£1800? Is it that expensive now? Pass rates wouldn't be great for the intensive course either. 5 years since I did the exams but was around £350 for a night class at a further education college.

Thats what the local training company is advertising for an intensive course.

Would be easier and cheaper towing the Big A on a low loader behind the loader tractor than going down the HGV route. 170hp 50k loader tractor would tow 15t of Big A and trailer no problem.

Could you not just start towing your telehandler behind the xerion?

What's the worst that could happen? How big a fine would you get?

I think the problem is that the Xerion isn’t as good at spreading as Pete hoped. The Big A is the ideal machine but you can’t tow a loader with it legally.

I believe that is why Pete went for the Xerion, it is legal to tow a trailer with loader on as it is a tractor. However IIRC the Xerion is overly complicated and has a few issues with spreading

I know what you mean but up here no loader at the lime heap and you wouldn't be getting your lime spread.... Just saying how it is in this part of the world. Obvs different where you are
It's the same here in NE Scotland.

Strange that, all the lads round here all have their own loaders they tow with them.
Remember as a kid the guy that used to come here with 3 Big A’s and towed a Ford 555 loader behind one of them. Had a jaw hitch on the bucket and pulled behind with the engine running.

Another local guy with a trailer spreader has a hydraulic frame on the back of the loader that pushes a pair of super singles down to lift the rear wheels off the road.

Also seen a 360 with a set of super singles to pull behind Big A.

I assume it’s down to interpretation of the law but if braking was an issue then it would be very easy to connect up brakes to a super single dolly.

Think the biggest problem is customers with unrealistic/unnecessary expectations, a few customers that would rather not have a trailed limespreader but have a trailed drill, sprayer, grain trailers, balers, bale chasers, bale trailers all running the same tramlines they want you lime spread on.

The customers who are expecting you to spread lime with a hovercraft loaded via telekinesis are probably the same ones who would cancel on you after 1mm of rain or £5/t drop wheat price.
