Who was it that said feed W would be £200/t and milling 250/t by Christmas?? Cant remember but someone did

anyone whose had much to do with trying to grow a crop and had a realistic view of what was always inevitable re brexit deal would have been pretty sure about thst

question is who was brave enough to go long on the markets?

if ever there was a year to carry h19 into 2021 this has to be it

really think we should start a TFF virtual trading platform game here ....... kind of like a fantasy football league !

Not many among us are fortunate enough to be able to store two harvests safely, let alone take the cash flow hit.
Of course if no 2020 crop was anticipated, the storage problem goes away a bit. I have yet to regret spilling my feed wheat in July..

i don’t have cash to carry a harvest - but borrowing it is REALLY cheap right now - far cheaper than missing rising markets

Grain is currency / security- pretty easy to warrant with a merchant or borrow from a bank against that

cash flow should never dictate selling - if it does you will never see the best of the markets - if you need cash there are other ways to cover that until the right tine to sell

as for storage, it wss pretty obvious that wasn't going to be stretched this year on most farms

The price of chicken will have to rise ,hooray!

Chicken still 3 for £10 medium 1.4 kg bird in my local Morrisons. Doubt the retailer will want to change that situation? I would have to go back to check but that retail offer in my local Morrisons has been constant now for at least four years? And the Savers 1 kg oats been 75 pence for similar period. ALways intersting to assess the various aspects of the chain from farm gate to plate, the margins and potential for give.

Hope you are right. Cheers.

It is very easy when it doesn’t matter
but when you have skin in the game it is 100 times harder to get it right
