How many of you have lost someone due to Covid?

I know of two people, one was on her last legs 80-90 years old, the other was an acquaintances father whom I’d never met.

Just interested. Two or three people from Bosnia here in quarantine with it, they are going mental with boredom and feel fine.

One of the guys who drives for us went to his 80+ year old mother's funeral yesterday, she went into a care home about 3 months ago because her husband also in his 80's was finding it increasingly difficult to care for her then about 3 weeks ago she was admitted to hospital (not covid related) then sent back to the home and then tested + for Covid. The death certificate states covid but she had already been on her "last legs" 3 months ago and whilst covid may have hastened her demise it certainly wasn't the overriding cause.

A friend watched her father die through the window of his room in a care home. 80 years old - but no underlying health conditions. I was at the virtual funeral which was videod from the crematorium.

If we let covid get away from us then it will get real for everyone pretty quick - but then it will too late.

The fact that most folks dont know anyone who has died from it is because that the percentage of people who have been in contact with the virus has been kept low.

We have family visiting the area next month (staying in a holiday let) 5 in their group, 4 in ours, so one of our group can go to them, or two of their group can visit us. But we can all meet up in a pub to socialise, or can meet wherever we want if we say it's a business meeting!

We are in West Devon, haven't been more than 20 miles from home in 6 months. The visitors will be coming from Bristol, Mid Wales and London, (could just as easily come from Newcastle, Bolton and Birmingham) two of them work in hospitals. West Devon has, on Govt figures, the lowest risk in the UK of catching Covid through person-to-person contact.
Yet these 5 people will be perfectly able to all go to the local shops as a group.

There are so many gaps in the rules, it's no wonder people chose to ignore them!

You can't have a partial lock down, any more than you can partially abstain from alcohol

this is the most Imbecilic and irresponsible behaviour , those working in the hospitals should know that mixing of people from different areas in such a fashion is exactly what a disease loves. I find it hard to believe that infection control has been so lowered in the NHS psyche that they would contemplate such a trip.
it is no wonder so many people act so stupidly , when health workers are doing this.
when I as a child spent long periods in hospital , it was drummed in to us the importance of non contact because of cross infection fears. Look at the rules and regs regarding livestock movements all based on common sense measures to contain infection. I despair of such people!

I personally know at least 12 people who have tested positive. Two branches of the family we supply potatoes and vegetables to. Of the 12 a 90 year old woman went to hospital with suspected pneumonia another 60 year old developed flu like symptoms which was when immediate family and staff got tested 8 family members were positive and 4 staff including a 70 year old handyman. Other than the first two the only one to be sick was a 50 year old man who five years previously had had leukemia he was very fatigued for a week. One of those positive was a 65 year old diabetic. The hospitalized 90 year old has recovered the 60 year old with flu like symptoms also is fine. In the crisp factory 60 out of 100 were found to be positive but no one was ill. The factory closed for two weeks but is now working.

No one with covid but someone with a brain tumour they missed due to the crazyness getting someone into hospital since March

Know no one who has died.
2 people I know tested positive at work.
No symptoms.
We farm on urban edge and kids at big school, lots of mixing.
So it's not like we isolated.
Know of at least 3 people in the village I live in who have had the virus, been some deaths sadly in surrounding villages in the area and in population areas like Holywell and Prestatyn.

I don't know anyone who has died from or with cv19.
I know three people who definitely had it, one with no symptoms, and all three are now fine.
I also know one person who we both think had it in early January, who is now fine. Curiously, I helped her out while she was sick, without using a mask or social distancing and didn't catch it from her.

However, I know of a couple of people who have died due to lockdown restrictions and one other closer to home who may have his life support switched off this weekend after being unable to get timely treatment.

The reason is more to do with those that need to be careful are being so ( mostly!!), unlike in February and march
Probably opposite.
Feb and March everyone was scared of it and the vulnerable were isolating and shielding.

Now most dont care or are prepared to accept they may get it, but want a quality of life, not sat in house for months.
If your 80+ you could die of many things next week, so enjoy what time you have instead of sat shielding from covid

Not my experience of the vulnerable or elderly right now.... They have already started taking precautions etc...

The whole theory of shielding is to prevent hospitals being swamped.

If all the vulnerable decided to ignore the rules it would be horrendous.
