After 2 days of blocking the drum and rotary separator on the combine I’m giving my battered body a rest and tough topping some fallow/failed OSR ground ready for drilling W Wheat today.
A bigger mower would have been useful, but it’s all I’ve got

I'm another cancer survivor (I'm sure there will be a few of us on here, some still don't like to talk about cancer) I had testicular cancer, I had 3 (3 day) sessions of BEP chemo, plenty of side effects like sickness, (being sick at even the smell of certain foods) hair loss, and odd things like hiccups each time the 3 day session finished. I remember something like 22 litres of various things, chemo drugs anti sickness, and something to protect kidneys (I think) being pumped in over the 3 days (Alarms were always going off on the pumps when they stopped flowing, chemo nurses were very overworked and it could be quite a wait before they got round to sorting it, I watched what they did to get it restarted, and started sorting it out myself when alarm went off, as I knew that as soon as all was pumped in you could go home)
I had the all clear but at a 3 month check up and scan they found a 40mm tumour on the blood supply to my kidney, so more stronger chemo needed, 4 sessions this time of TIP chemo, similar situation as before and then a big op to check everything had gone.
About 18 years ago now, I'm still here, have quite a lot of hearing loss which can be caused by one of the chemo drugs.
( I think I've got the BEP and TIP the right way around)

You went through some proper nasty chemo! Paclitaxil and cisplatin are particularly vile! I thought pacli would be a lovely one as it’s my favourite to make and then I met patients who were on it! It’s made from the bark of a tree so a lot of people react badly to it.

I was well knackered at the end of it all, couldn't walk up 2 flights of stairs without stopping for a rest, I had check-ups for about 12 years, reading between the lines when the consultant finally discharged me, I think he was surprised I'd made it.
I think it's cisplatin that causes the hearing loss, but I believe they monitor your hearing these days when having treatment

I imagine so, we put each dose in 1litre of saline and I know they give fluids before and after where as some drugs we only put the drug in 50/100ml so it’s not the nicest is some. Well done on carrying on fighting it
