Which mower - Claas Disco 3100C contour or Kuhn FC313 for Hay/Haylage

I have been looking for a used mower and like the look of these two. What one would you say is the best. Looking to keep it till its done as I wont be doing a massive amount and don't wanna be spending a fortune keeping it running If I can help it.

Class better for transport

min not really bothered on that front as it’s just gonna be used on my own ground and access isn’t a problem anywhere. More interested in build quality and cost of blades etc. Leaning toward the claas as it’s got the metal tines on the conditioner.

Fair enough just the tail swing can be a problem for some with gates off narrow lanes. Don't think class is bad quality or parts particularly dearer

Claas you'll not be disappointed with it running costs are low . I had a string of kuhn mowers and at the time they were probably the best but after a few new beds and a couple of gearboxes I got a claas 3100c and only put wearing metal on it in 4 hard seasons and a couple of easier ones . Now have a 3200c and wish I had kept my 3100 as I've lost half my cutting so it would've done another 6 seasons no bother

Ever seen one crack on the main arm? Seen one for sale with welding on it I don’t mind a welding job myself as I enjoy doing it so not bothered as long as it’s a sign it’s got real issues.

Don’t forget a John Deere 313 mounted mower is a Kuhn with metal conditioner flails.

We have a 328 and have been pleased with it,more than 10 years old.

Went for the JD because of it having metal tines.

You can get Kuhn with metal tines but they had to be specked as an option new.

What about the quality of cut?
Very disappointed in my krone in heavier cuts.
Think the kuhn is very good on that front.
Know nothing of the class.

Go for the Claas, big contractor around here had multiple Kuhn 313’s for years and always doing beds and headstocks, he bought a claas combo and has only bought claas since.

I actually forgot I had this.

A good friend of mine asked which mower to get I said claas he bought a tidy kuhn didn't hit anything and it went from running sweet to this in seconds.

Just buy a claas .

I’d go with Kuhn. We bought a Kuhn 313 front mower, and disco 3100c Claas rear in 2014. Kuhn front would see out two Claas rear ones. Claas was a lovely mower today use, folded really nicely and we really liked it, but sadly got tired very quickly. Sold the Claas for a Kuhn 314 rear last year.

Used a 331 JD this week good mower but like transporting a 5 furrow plough on the back !Tail swing or what!
Kuhn 283 here. I came round a tight left hand bend the other day and there was a motorbike coming the other way right on the white line. His life flashed in front of him,the mower was over the line about two foot

Any idea what caused it?
No he just got it and was busy cutting when it went bang very quickly no debris in the swath or surrounding area it just went suddenly.
The times my trailed kuhn beds went wrong they sounded funny then there was a big clatter when they shat themselves
