Hi there just wondering if anyone can tell me about the gearbox on my 1991 6810 2wd. As far as I'm sure all ap cabs are non synchro so wat is the best way to change gear. Many thanks for help

Yes I know but if you rev up then foot off throttle out of gear then in it sometimes does the gear grinding noise when you put it back in

Back when we had 10series ap they were always crunching when changing gears. Old 4000 and 5000 could change without a sound.

Sorry no help😥

You can drive a ford crunch box without using the clutch
Yes you can on the road with no load. No issue whatsoever in doing so. The Ford constant mesh box is superior to all crash boxes bar the John Deere one, because both do not incorporate sliding gears meshing. All it requires is to manually synchronise the engine revs to match the next gear's required revs at the forward speed the tractor is going. Easier in some gears more than other to double declutch, especially downshifting.
The more worn-in the transmission and the more practice the driver gets, the better and easier it gets.

I had a driver bring an Albion Truck home from Newark to Wakefield without clutch.

Always found older Fergies a bit odd, you could change between gears cleanly enough, it getting a gear to start with always had a little clunk with it.

Had E.R.F six wheeler you only used the clutch to initially get it going after that it was easier not to bother.Always used to love watching someone new driving it😂 until you showed them how
