is there an easy way to get the plastic backing off a tube patch without ripping edge of patch , off tube , dont know why they dont split the back , I allowed it to dry all afternoon , still lifted the edge getting it off !

lol thats why i put question on the classic thread , all the ones with modern kit prob just get the tyre man in ,been there..... i just leave it on not that i do many

If it doesn’t come off easily I just leave them on. If you try as soon as you’ve rolled the patch on and it just slightly peels the edge up you can always roll it back down again

Bend the patch sharply and the film splits across the halfway point

Roll it quite firmly with the roller pictured above and the plastic should come looser. Peel it from the middle out or maybe tear it round the edge in a curve.

yea thats what i did , then i get a kink on the edge , weak spot then

Maybe didn't let the glue dry enough before putting the patch on? If still wet the fumes will lift the patch to find a way out

yep , its all dried ok ,
dont forget to let the glue go off a bit before putting the patch on

In Theory ....
In practice just leave it on and make sure there is plenty of fine dust off the workshop floor (talc) over it to cover the smears of stray "dry" glue...

Make a cup of tea and let it brew to make sure the glue has gone off sufficiently...
