Getting concerned

1/3 of 1st wheat drilled. Ok and not too much worked up but not drilled. A main cultivations tractor still in pieces having a new transmission fitted and a power harrow gearbox being rebuilt so given the downtime we’re not badly off yet. At least the 30mm rain in the last 2 days will soften up the barley seedbeds that had baked out so we can get them sown next week.

The Dr changes like the weather....
TBF I change a lot but I don’t make sweeping declarations on here before I do.... 🤣😉
Ha. My over all sweeping view is that spring drilling is the new way forward for us but I’m not going to stop my brother getting some winter wheat in as he is keen to do so. Seed is on its way and most of the area is already ploughed. Most of the sheep have gone so he is having a change / rest doing the arable and hasn’t tired of it yet though he was complaining a bit how we always seem to be two days behind the weather in terms of the land getting too sticky. I think we will be lucky to get it in in reasonable conditions if I’m honest. Very heavy land that usually becomes unworkable by the 4th October without fail. Fingers crossed though. We might pull it off.

Blown head gasket on our biggest tractor isn’t helping. Need to get is sorted out pronto but battling on with the IH 4240 and the Lambo. Good job we didn’t sell the smaller tackle. Bogged down in paperwork myself today but should get back to it tomorrow when it’s dried off a bit.

What tractor is in for repair ? Our 8360r is in having a new hydro fitted . Wish they would bloody break in the winter when we were not busy .

Ah but dont you know that no cropping plan survives first contact with a chance of a dry day !! The neighbours rising dust can weaken any resolve !!! The Doc is just taking a flexible approach either way how can he lose (y)
When I do mine it is with the strict proviso that I reserve the right to change my mind.
In farming flexibility is everything IMHO

8360R also having a hydro box replaced. 5,000 hours on the clock. Hopefully JD will help out with some of the parts bill.
Must be fairly common our 8360rt was in about a month ago 8320r has made it to end of season but going in and know of another three been done locally. I think deeres contribution depends on age/hours!
