just received a letter from the office for national statics asking us to take part in random testing, they will come to us to take test, then once a week for a month and then once a month for a year so 16 tests in total.
Yeah we are doing that. Not sure they have enough staff to get round every week, upside it’s convenient (at home) and quick.

Or until you test negative, or all your family test negative? This test has an alleged 5% false positive rate. They've already cost me my spare time job in the pub, I don't want these idiots coming near me thanks.
Fortunately I won’t sack myself for self isolating for 10 days.

I won't either but it's cost me a grand or so a month for a job I enjoyed and didn't impact on the farm. They are trying to re-open but it's pathetic what they have to go through. I expect to see it closed soon and turned into Air B&B units or something. Then the grockles will all be asking where the nearest pub is. 11 miles in that direction my dear.

I see and share your concerns about overzealous lockdown measures. However if or when I get the virus I would like to know, not least because I believe in that circumstance I should self isolate to minimise the risks to others.

I can understand that and it's fair enough. However, I think the media are creating a storm of fear which doesn't reflect reality. SARS is nasty, no doubt. The nursing home thing was a disaster. I've seen some stats, I think from the ONS that excess deaths dipped last Autumn which maybe left a lot of 'low hanging fruit' for this virus to pick off but that's always been the way. It's behaving in the way all other viruses do. I had Swine Flu back along as did my infant son and that was terrifying but in the end it was mild. My dad is 84 with dodgy kidneys so I do all his shopping and we distance etc. Just being sensible. Is he going to have to stay indoors for the rest of his life? The actual science indicates that the response is way, way excessive but most people would rather sit like zombies in front of the BBC and watch the same crap over and over every 30 minutes, especially older people who have grown up to trust it. Test 100,000 people with a 5% false positive rate and you'll get 5000 new cases and any of those die within 28 days for whatever reason will be put down as COVID.

I have no doubt that the fact they are now paying people to be tested is a sinister indicator of how they are trying to keep this thing alive, even after it has died off or become weaker. Who's paying you? Mad Bill the vaccine man who stands to make another fortune. The man who openly speaks about 'population control'.

Meanwhile we have the depressing sight of little old ladies in bright sunlight and fresh air struggling to get their shopping home because they've got a muzzle on.

I concurr with some of you comments. But the ONS survey and payment I consider you are wrong and taking the conspiracy theory too far. Bear with me.

The purpose of the ONS survey is to have a relatively consistent sample group and to track this group for a long period - looks from the posts earlier 12 months - to have a stable cohort from which to know the positives and ongoing negatives. I presume the relatively small payment is to compensate for any inconvenience.

The ONS survey thus will produce a far more reliable data set for what is happening in the public at large than the other tests results which are positively biased samples - in that folk get tested because they consider they have it, or might have it, or get caught up in a near miss which means they have to get a test. While someone like me is not getting a test as do not have it or consider have it - yet my 'negativity' doesn't show up in the data and thus dilute the positives.

So I disagree with you about the ONS survey. Appreciate you will come back and say 'bollox' that is your prerogative. And what I would expect from the pub tap room of the TFF Arms. Although it is not yet 500 years old, nor doe sit have an ingle nook fireplace and roaring log fire:);)

Conspiracy Theory is the new narrative. Essentially anyone who doesn't tow the line completely.

Conspiracy theory is just plain bonkers, over reaction probably, locking up students, I would like to know how that sits with every English law since 1066.
common sense appears to have been lost years ago, both in the attitudes of the mindless crowds of drunk revellers and Some of the authorities.
It is quite obvious they need the virus to go through these kids when they are well away from grandparents, not suppress a raging burn , until you let is break out as they go home at Christmas

My point is that if you speak out on anything now, you are dubbed a lunatic. If you suggest that XR or BLM or Occupy have motives that are anything but the nonsense they put out, you are a lunatic. How many black people have died as a result of BLM? How many more will die once the police are gone? Myself, I think it's all distraction tactics and there is big money behind it. Talk of 'New Normal'. What? Why? Because of a virus which will burn itself out as all others have? It's a narrative the MSM are pushing strongly. Be afraid, cover your face, don't go out, don't express any alternative views or you are branded either far right, irresponsible or a lunatic. Or all 3. People are waking up. The kids don't give a shite any more and good on them.

The ONS survey is still biased as it is only sampling households, which leaves out many other high risk people.
