Lots of radios have usb on front or back, if plugged into the back and pulled through facia it can't be removed easily but a easy job to replace when it starts playing up. If usb on front of radio can go back into dash and then back out and even mount a ram mount for phones. On CNH there is two radio slots side by side so loads of room to add stuff

...... 12v into lightning socket will fry the phone....... what’s wrong with the usb socket? Allows the lightning cable to be replaced when it’s knackered or you change device etc want to future proof fit a USB-C unit....

If only I could actualy keep hold of a lightening cable long enough for it to become knackered !

If you’ve got electric grease guns, grinders, wrench’s etc like most do now, just get one of these:

If fully charged ours last about 3-4 weeks in a tractor cab and can be recharged up over night on your grease guns charging points.

Does anyone else find that their Ifone will get hot when charging via 12v. I charge mine via a Pioneer radio, but when Im running utube or google maps, the phone will overheat. Sadly the radio has carplay so I need to use the lead for google maps, which I feel kills the battery running it hot. Now I drive with the phone out the window for 20 seconds to cool it. Was thinking of making a 12v fan cooler to sit the phone on??

My iPhone gets hot when running nav apps like Waze that use a lot of power. In my pickup the mounting bracket is in the fan outlets so no problem.
