Ireland are 90% spring calving. Its a massive trade over there.
Leek have 150 spring cows/heifers in today.
The report will no doubt make for interesting reading.
Was quoted Euro 1600 for heifers 6-8 weeks off calving couple of months ago. Would think that hasn’t moved and with BoJo/no deal, there may actually be a small price rise

the dispersal kivells had this week, av close to £2,000. But, there's a lot of cows on the market, like you said, it's a funny old market, at the moment !
They where a small exceptionally well bred herd of very high yielding cows. Be top 5% herd in the country id guess.

made what they deserved then, was told it was a really good herd. Perhaps, it's a case of, the top end make the most, but the bottom end the dearest !! Quite glad we are stocked up, pleased with what we got.

Thing is @Bald Rick , in my experience, it is these little foibles, (and maybe a few others ), that make some people dislike the best breed, as you described them. Just as we find them endearingCharacters .......... Thinking of cropped area for feeding Danish Jerseys next year. At the moment I’m looking at 70 acres Maize, 40 acres spring barley wholecrop and 60 acres of ryegrass/ red clover silage. What sort of daily ration would others recommend from these ingredients i.e. percentage inclusion. I guess I’ll need to consult a nutritionist at some point but interested to hear others views.
