That saw is s cheap Chinese one, they can be dressed up with different shaped plastics, and colours. I bought a McDillion branded one off eBay for some £60 brand new delivered some years ago. My advice is get a good Huskuvarna 61! That thing will drive you to despair, the chain tensioner is held in the plastic cover and just slips for starters. Performance is so so, untill it stops, oil pump packs up. And not worth fixing. My thinking is chainsaw work is hard work, and you need a saw to perform, cut fast , get the job done. People will buy a flash top of the range 4x4 , and use a cheap useless chainsaw?

We had echo hedge cutters on the Council and can not recall any problems with them. They had some hours put on them cutting all the gardens and the parks hedges. The tree gang had Jonsered chainsaws which you don't see or here of much but they looked a strong piece of kit and from what i gather were good . Not sure if their still about but they are worth consideration .

Oh Ollie.... spend £30 more and get a named make such as stihl from your LOCAL dealer... buy local and support local jobs. I do get frustrated at some posters on here!
Edit, argue away

I bought a new saw from a local supplier ten days ago. It came from Screwfix in Newtown, about 7 miles away, and cost £89.99 inc VAT.
It’s a replacement for the last (identical) one that lasted two and a half years, cutting everything from fence posts to 18” tree trunks. Main saw only gets pulled out for ‘proper’ work these days.

next time try, parker chainsaws on e'bay, from the ridiculously cheap, to the seriously professional. The cheap ones are really quite good, and a nearly throwaway price, just right for those jobs, where they get abused.

Very tempted with one of these, sold by a firm in Pembroke. What can go wrong?
We bought a Hyundai lawn mower and it’s been ok. It has got a Chinese engine that is allegedly built under licence from a hyundai design.

Are Echo saws not a derivative of Husqvarna?
Jonsered is the only legitimate derivative of Husqvarna saws.
Partner is also similar but they don't have straight up copies of older models the way Jonsered does it but rather they have their own models except built out of Husqvarna parts..

Jonsered saws are still built in Sweden while Partner is Spain or Italy IIRC.
