Red Tractor Chair sells out all members

Sounds very clear to me this Woman had decided long before she even voted that she was going to quit the RT Chair..

When you look above at the RT statement and see that Andrew Blenkiron is Vice chair and Jim Moseley is the CEO you can soon work out why the RT board has totally lost the confidence of many RT farmer members!

No one from either the AHDB or the NFU should be on the RT board, Minette had to be dragged kicking and screaming ( as she had no intention of quitting the gravy train ) from the RT board some 18 months or so after she become NFU president and all that happened is one of her stooges who will do what she tells them to replaced her on the board!

When do the new standards come out?

the notion that farmers are 'members' is disingenuous as you have no rights to vote, elect officials. set policy or even view the minutes of meetings

Still haven’t forgotten the RT meeting in Devon (Cullompton I think it was) when Andrew Blenkiron spat his dummy out as did Phillipa Wiltshire. Seem to remember that you were there @gone up the hill

The meeting where it nearly turned into a riot i seem to recall, the room was literally full of very unhappy farmers very opposed to WLA.

Problem is Blenkiron will i suspect end up the new chair and then we really will be in trouble!

All farmer members of RT should have the right to vote in the elections for the top jobs on the RT board given just how much damage/ costs and red tape the people on the board of this quango can and do inflict on the farming industry and which the costs certainly cannot be re-couped from the market place!

RT is run for the benefit of the supermarkets and the people who sit on the board, came out at the RT meeting above that @An Gof mentioned that the top people at the RT were on 140K + a year..................

i've been looking at some supermarket labels....the rt image seems to be getting smaller and in some cases put away from main label. .....though a union jack logo is prominently displayed...i reckon supermarkets would quite like to ditch the rt logo altogether

you lot are wasting your time hoping for rt reform it's either

1/ quit rt and if necessary quit farming.....i'd rather quit than go back in
2/ starve the farmer organisations that support rt

why would I want to do that ? I know nothing of livestock farming or hold any interest

that’s like saying the solution is to simply become a heart surgeon !

nothing wrong with the business I have spent 20 years building. It’s just wrong that I have to operate under a protection racket in our 1st world democratic and lawful country in 2020

what needs to change is red tractor NOT my perfectly good business

Yeah but a mouse poo'd in your shed...

She won't seek another term!View attachment 915974

I presume this was released today after the fiasco.
I did suggest this morning that the NFU should ensure she was gone today and I guess this was the best that could be done without her losing face.
However the statement by Terry Jones was one of the most appalling pieces of writing I have ever witnessed from the NFU and should never have been released.

I am actually in favour of a farm assurance scheme that can be complied with, unlike many of you who don't want any. Believe me RT does prevent every supermarket and its dog from inventing their own assurance scheme in a race to the top (or bottom)!

Yes we pay to be members of This scheme so we should get a vote on who’s in charge.

as an aside I haven’t had a inspection for almost 2 years now for beef or cereals.

im refusing point blank to do online audits and as the cereal inspector was a first class twot I refused to let him come on the farm during harvest.
not heard a dicky bird from them since although they took my money so assume im still ok To sell farm assured grain.

Agreed. Union Jack is good enough. We don’t need the silly red tractor bit.

Most of us will accept some form of assurance I'm sure. (even if we do bring in non assured at the drop of a hat).

I’ve always said it started off with good intention, glass in grainstore lights etc.

But now all that’s been sorted it’s just a pointless box ticking exercise.
im even tempted to get a glass fronted light put up in the grainstore to see if they notice.

i would happily put money on them not noticing as they hardly look round farms nowadays as more interested in getting the laptop out to check if you worked the pet dog recently!

Do we really need “assurance” when we are all supposed to producing to UK statutory requirements anyway, whether we pay into RT or not?
There used to a free quality mark. It was sufficient to say “Made in Britain.”
That’s good enough for me.
