Its like they just come up with a random number then triple it and thats the price. Nothin is relevant to what it costs to produce. But normally if ur not in a hurry and shop around u can get it alot cheaper

That's a very old valve. I think the manufacturer might have actually gone bust and bought out by others since but not 100% sure.

Even worse than the extortionate price of most parts is that manufacturers are only legally bound to supply replacement parts for 10 years only. One example recently was a Rau power harrow, company taken over by keverneland, now the Japs, parts unavailable!

Your putting additive in them🤷‍♂️
I've used jcb HP plus axle oil in Dana before it dont work! So if that's what your using it's no good!
Buy a can of manitou wet brake oil £75 and put that in it. Dana axles are a little fussy on oils for so reason!

our fitter had used different oil and its much better so i think we are ok

it was all working ok but the noises sounded like something serious was wrong so stripped as a precaution

The limited slip diffs sound awful if oil isnt right. If changed quickly never really any long term damage.

The science behind oil additives is mind boggling - I have nephew who works for this Company, their products are in oils in 50% of ALL vehicles in the world.

Yes but the point is the correct oil doesn't need anything adding to it to make it work in the application.

That's why we buy genuine oils as there supposed to work!

Good to see I'm not the only one who suffers breakdowns, here's a few of this years.

1 brain for a mf4300, small and light enough, that it can be carried about by child. View attachment 916374
One pto circlip sleeve fits in the palm of your hand. View attachment 916373
And one jd flywheel driveplate and its male friend, the drive shaft to the pulleysView attachment 916398

Nearest wins three worn ball joints from a JCB loadall joystick. The new ones were clearly made of gold, so the worn ones must still have some value :ROFLMAO:
£1200
£250
£600

It is in this situation where third party fitters like ACE are worth knowing and paying because they know the back door routes to parts and what can be done and what can't. Invaluable service. Of course, he wouldhave less issues with brakes if he only worked on Merlos.
Pity ACE E didnt have multiple outlets across the UK
If the right folks could do it there is some serious business n money too be taken away from the MAIN STEALERS the more n more you think about it.
Hit them where it hurts, they have been legally RAPING us all for donkeys years in a lot of cases
Maybes not always the MAIN STEALERS to blame mind as there prices are set by the Pull ya Back teeth out Dick Turpins 6th removed cousin THE MAKERS & all seem to operate like
a Mafia controlled CARTEL over here.
RIP OFF BRITAIN has never been so bad eh folks

only had the smoking brake issue for first time about a year a go... thankfully no further damage done as my merlo is kept straw free otherwise it might not have ended well.
One area of the merlos design i agree with ya its a bit hit n miss, thankfull you dont use the brakes very much on them..

It's mostly the machine manufacturers and that main dealers aren't really allowed to offer alternative parts as that undermines the machine manufacturer etc.

Sometimes the uplift in genuine price isnt that bad but when you have a genuine part from the original manufactor of the item at say £500rrp and then the machine manufacturers want £1100rrp somethings clearly gone abit wrong there!

Genuine deutz turbo at just over £1k compared to genuine JCB at over £3k for example is just stupid.

Manitou do dumb stuff too.
Like a new headstock locking ram about £850. BUT if you buy a kit to convert a manual locking headstock to hydraulic locking it's just under £700🤦‍♂️ that includes all pipes fittings brackets some electric bits for the cab and a new ram😆🤷‍♂️

Anyway I only need one outlet. Couriers deliver all over uk next day👍

In the past few months I have also sent manitou stuff to Poland, Belguim, Austria and Western Australia!🙂

@ACEngineering im suprised jcb use dana axles.they allways make a big thing about making their own in fact I think they have an axle building factory.learn something everyday
nick...

Jcb own a company call international transmissions. That make axles and torque converter transmissions ltd or often known as ITL. These are then often sold to other machine manufacturers aswell. Matbro used to buy alot of transmissions off them and even perkins engines for awhile as it was cheaper for them to buy perky off jcb than direct from perkins due to the volume jcb took I guess🤷‍♂️

This thread should be re-named: 'Thieves and how do they sleep at night!'

It was over £100 but the kind storeman rounded it down!
