Why is there so many farming programs on TV.?

I once had a pair of freelance TV program makers approach me about making a program about real farming. They came to visit and one of them let slip she was a vegetarian!
Not surprisingly, the series never got made.
She seemed most upset as to why I turned them down.
What did she expect?

Alot of folks need educating to where their food comes from,,
They are quick enough to complain about mud on the roads ,cattle making noise and tractors everyware , but most dont know how their food gets to the table
they dont know they dont care but in my opinion most dont want to know .. unless of course villagers !!!!!!!!!!!are stuck in a snowdrift, then tractors are most welcome

The only thing worth watching from a farmers point of view is the Blood sweat and tractors series on BBC 4. The other programs are just cuddly zoo type of things. I'm not knocking that, it's probably best that the general public have an image of cuddly old straw chewing farmers who look after their half dozen meercats. (y) Public image these days is everything.

Who wouldn't want the long hours, low pay, abysmal weather, , ankle-deep in slurry for 11 months of the year (actually that could just be Dorset), a long drive to anywhere, dire pubs, dark endless winters...?

There should be programmes for farmers; Flight to the Suburbs, Cityfile, Manchester Vet and so on.
There are already loads of programmes for farmer's to watch about city life, there called
crime .....
Police ......
