MF3095 Datatronic Dynashift issue

Hi, I would be grateful if anyone on here has any ideas as to a fault that has developed on our MF3095 Dynashift. We have A and B but no C and D. The lights all come on when you put your foot on the clutch and she reverts to A on start up. I am not sure what the issue could be and our local MF dealer says they are too old for anyone to remember working on them!!!1 Any help of what to look for and where would be greatly appreciated.

From memory ours was doing something similar, left it to the dealer here and it turned out it was a calculator somewhere in the dash that the wires going to had corroded, think it was located near the fuse box above the clutch pedal, apologies for the vagueness!

Your dealer obviously hasn’t got any time served mechanics, the dynashift box was used up until the early 6400 series , approx 2006 so there would have been plenty in regular use for several years after that.
That said they were regarded as pretty reliable gearboxes so perhaps they haven’t had a lot of experience with problems

Been many years ago since I had issues but background info from memory:
The autotronic ecu up under the right hand side of the cab (behind the steps) energises 2 solenoids in different combinations to give you 4 dynashift gears.
I believe that also sends the signal back to the dash.
When neither solenoid is energised (or you unplug the two solenoids) you’ve mechanically got D.

Do dash lights work correctly to the lever?
Or is it not giving you the gears?

If it helps, I’d be starting with checking which solenoids were actually working (ignore dash lights) and then working backwards from that ecu up to the dash/ column lever

Ok so it does sound like you’ll need to be exploring the signal from lever > ecu and ecu>dash rather than an issue on the solenoid output side. Be gentle with the wiring it can go very brittle outside at the base of connectors.

I would still sanity check which dynashift solenoids are energising, look straight behind the right hand steps at the side of the gearbox in front of where the gear-lever is. They’re on a small chest the size of your fist, should have a small metal plate covering it the size of your palm with m6 bolt. One solenoid is on the top, one on bottom. I’ll PM you the combination

My issue was lights working correctly but wasn’t actually engaging the solenoids, needed a circuit board repair inside the ecu but don’t think thats your problem.

Best thing to do is swap the solenoids around and see if your problem changes gears you can also use any of the other solenoids from the pto ect to test
but it’s funny you haven’t got D as that’s the default gear

I know of a 3075 that had similar issues, if my memory serves me I think it was the actual shift arm/switch. Local mechanic wired up 2 temporary switches to operate the solenoids while he got hold of a replacement.

Thank you for suggestions. Have managed to ascertain that we have good power going to the solenoids and you can hear a change in engine note when changing from A to B. You can also hear a change of engine note when you disconnect both solenoids which presumably is her going into D which is the default when power killed to the solenoids. We have all the LEDS on dash light up when ignition on and A and B will light up but C and D will not light up at all when engine running and trying to engage C and D with dyna switch on column. We have tried new dyna switch and exactly same happens so I am beginning to wonder if its a problem within the black box under the RHS steps?? Any other potential ideas or things to look at again would be a great help! Thank you in advance!
