Farm small grant scheme

Morning.
so have an issue with my approved grant.
I’ve put in for various items but my problem is I’ve put in for a cattle crush and a separate head scoop.
The crush I’ve decided to go for now has a head scoop built in as standard. So I contacted RPA to tell them this and ask if the two grants can be rolled into one to save buying a separate head scoop for the sake of ticking a box.
Looks like I can’t do that and will have to buy the scoop just for the sake of it to get the grant on all the other items.

Has anyone had this type of thing before and what are my options?
Buy it and leave it to gather dust for 5 years then try to sell?
Don’t buy and potentially risk it?
Try to get supplier to work the invoice to have the integrated head scoop billed separately?

would appreciate others opinions as it’s mad you can’t just ask RPA to remove the item you no longer need from your app.

cheers!

They are very clear with their rules. Either you buy what you applied for or don’t claim the grant.
Anything you do outside of this is your risk.

Lots of people seem to be apply for the grant and then deciding what exact piece of equipment they want after which is not really the right way around as most firms will preorder subject to grant.
When I applied in round 2 you had to put an expected delivery date in the application, don’t know if that still applies.

You're not allowed to pre-order under the grant terms.

Are you sure? I know it says you only pay for and take delivery of items after your grant is approved but I’m sure it says somewhere that certain items may be popular and you should ensure you can get delivery within the deadline.

To the OP I would be asking if the crush and head scoop can be itemised and priced individually on the invoice

It says you need to be able to get it within the deadline, it also says no orders or payments to be made prior to approval.
At least it did in the first one, it was very clear that there could be no pre approval orders.
Maybe they saw the flaw in the rules and updated it.

I can’t see how they could police it though, some popular things are going to have a long enough waiting list without a grant being available on them as well

Cheers for the reply’s. crush is in store ready, don’t think it’ll be easy to get another as with Covid all the main company’s are way behind in making kit and no deadline extension being mentioned by RPA at the moment.
Think I’ll either try to get them to invoice me separately for the crush and scoop if an option with them or get the half price head scoop to tick the box and gather some dust!

Talk too the supplier they’ll invoice it all properly for you and then when you take photos for the evidence just make sure the photos hide that it’s welded on...
