Teagle 8080

I'm having trouble with the bed stopping on my straw chopper. There's a build up of straw where the back door meets the bed and this is stopping the bed going forward. So its a case of constantly putting it in reverse and forward. Making a simple job more difficult.
Anybody had this problem and solved it.

Cheers

Ours does this from time to time. Think there's 4 17mm head bolts under the machine, these hold a gaurd inplace under the floor chain. Undo these and the floor/guard slides out fetching a load of crap with it...usually stones, soil, chaff etc
Usually sorts ours for a bit.
Hope this helps if it makes sense!

seen it happen with ours, sometimes clears backing off a wee bit, other times it needs the blockage pulled right to the flywheel.
Out of interest have you noticed where the blockage occurs, ours is always on the near side(where the flywheel paddle is on the way up) which probably points to a bent paddle or damaged rubber as suggested above.

Thanks for all the help. The picture shows where it blocks. Seems I've more investigating to do underneath.

Did you ever cure the problem of your bed sticking as mine seems to be suffering from the same problem. It seems to happen when the baler is nearly finished.

Ah the vagaries of turbine distribution! I’ve worked closely with 4 different brands in my time and spent many an hour sorting out similar issues. Sometimes it’s the straw and it’s DM, other times it’s the machine itself. You just have to persevere and eventually you’ll discover what makes the problem ease. All types re circulate some material that’s unavoidable.

How stretched are the chains? My McHale slats don't clear the back and jam when a pair of links are needing removed, or the chains and C bolt joiners are needing replaced.

As @DrDunc says, if theres adjustment to remove a link from the chain take one out each side, we used to be constantly getting this problem, took out a link each side and I don't think we've had a problem since.
You need to take two links out per side to shorten them so that there isn't a twist in the chain.

On the McHale there is one section between slats that is longer than the rest, 13 links instead of 11 (if my memory is correct).

I have the chain tensioned so that it lifts about 50mm in the middle when empty.

Aye, sounds about right tension for every brand but the McHale, it likes it better with about 25mm. How far out are the adjusters?

If the chains are stretched, the tensioner bolts will be near fully wound. The rollers that the chains run will then be right to the back of the machine. If there's a wee bit of fodder dragged around, it can mean there isn't clearance for the slat, and it jams

I have a teagle 8550 dual chop. I have problems with this a lot. It helped when i cut off 2 links in each side. But it wear fast, and the tension is all out in one side, but not in the other. So i can't cut any more links off. The machine is only 1,5 years old.
I bought it to swap my 20 year old kuhn primor 3560, for the option of chopping straw. I didn't have the same amount of problems in 20 years with the kuhn as i have had with this one in 500 days.
