At least there’s somewhere to park at the new mart. I’ve never seen anywhere like the city centre mart, where you could leave until late if you turned up early as you’d be blocked in by later arrivals.:banghead:
Massive carpark and yet they still have to open a field up for big sales! Some buzz in the old market though 30+ yrs ago, sheep, pigs, store cattle, calves, dairy and the barren auction. Market tavern, markets stalls , poultry market , dairy supplies etc and the farmers wives could just pop over the road into the town centre. Once the council fenced half the parking off and stopped parking down by the football ground it was finished.

True. None of these new ‘efficient’ markets have the same atmosphere.... or is that just looking back through rose tinted glasses.

There was also the mini branches of the main high street banks in the middle of the market stalls, so you could pay last Wednesdays cheque in the following Wednesday without having to leave the market.

The characters aren't as plentiful now days like they used to be though, most modern farmers are pretty bland compared with days gone by.
