Trump imposed tariffs on UK Steel and Aluminium. All UK goods with Chinese components were subject to 3 rounds of US tariffs particularly hitting the UK automotive industry but this also created reduced international demand for UK goods. Trump's dropping of the Paris accord has allowed US companies to undercut UK companies whilst polluting the planet.

Trump also deliberately tweeted things during the withdrawal and trade talks to weaken the UK negotiating position and make a no deal more likely, thus giving the US a very strong hand in any future UK/US trade negotiations. Trump has allowed further US banking deregulation which will have a knock-on effect to the UK financial institutions who will have to follow, we all know where that ended last time. He also undermined the WTO making difficult of the UK negotiators to put plausible cases to the EU about no deal.. Basically the Trump administration aim was to make the UK it's Vassal state.

As I've said I'm no fan of Trump and I think if he doesn't go to the inauguration it is very childish and pathetic he is his own worse enemy, but the MSM have become a disgrace, not just over trump.

No I'm not a fan, except of the truth, you can see many threads where I've called him a buffoon, an idiot etc , I started the thread where I asked if he was the most dangerous man in the world, so not a fan, however when the MSM lie and constantly twist the truth social media sites take down stuff from him yet allow posts from others who could said to be worse to remain I think we all need to open our eyes and really see who said what and in what context before we condemn them, Trump isnt the only one who suffers from this imvho. The true and honest reporting of news has become lost.
I think when you dont watch the news much and then you catch up with something it is really noticeable how bad journalists have become, that's both sides of the political spectrum.
A couple of years ago we were visiting a NT property where there was a copy of the times from the day after WW1 was declared, the difference from todays style was frightening and I do mean that word.

From what is now coming out on the state of the the USA it would seem that Trump has done nothing since a few months before the election. he has been too engrossed in getting himself elected he has left the USA leaderless. Then after the election his dented ego at losing fair and square has meant his childish mentality has not even bothered to be concerned at the pandemic which is the Worlds greatest problem at the moment. The issue of juggling economic, health and social issues all wrapped up in making decisions linked to the pandemic is taxing every leader in the world except Trump who has had a not care less attitude, as long as he is alright that is all he is worried about.

American politics is in many ways no different to UK politics where it is a two party affair where the voters hold long held voting preferences govern. So it is left to a minority of between 5-10% of voters who swing from Democrat to Republican and vice versa at every election. The Democrats are just left of centre and the Republican's are right of centre in world definition terms. The Democrats may have some socialistic ideas but they certainly cannot be deemed socialist/ lefttie or even commie. There is nothing in the things that the Democrats have suggested needs to happen that is in my view lonny leftie.
Both sides have representatives which spout idiot comments but that is politics, and really we need to look at what actually they put forward as policies and then actual legislation which is the crux. In any group you need a diverse spread of opinions to then come up with a sensible way forward.

Europe owes its security during the cold war to the us and the uk, who else was stopping the communists walking into europe, the french or Italians? Of course you old boys would have stated neutral, again, the EU need to remember that little fact, you are a great one for bringing up history and the evils of the british empire perhaps a few memories of more modern history of europe need remembering too.

100% agree with you, and I too defend him when appropriate - but can you not see the irony in my post 163? You claiming the press misquote things and yet the evidence you provide is itself misquoted by you?

He’s been totally setup last week. CNN were already at Capitol Hill waiting. No other news crew were there prior to things kicking off. There is video evidence of this. The police escorted Antifa into the proceedings - again this is on video. The police opened the barriers letting them take a run at the building - again this is on video.

I don’t think the current situation is over. Joe Biden is to be impeached on his first day of office.

Trump clearly won the election and 75 million Americans aren’t going to let this go.
