Yes there’s a big difference around the uk. Plenty of winter left yet .Snow only just melted today - been white here for weeks.
Moved the biggest mob onto the driest ( gravel hole) field yesterday , as they were making a mess on the other field.I was thinking how you were getting on with the tack sheep , really wet now
Bulbs hardly breaking surface here and frost finally out of the ground today. Usually have some snowdrops flowering by now these last 6 or 7 years.. Ground saturated. Countryside and grass now brown with all the frost we have had recently . Winter has a long way to go especially up here. Just put this up on my weather blog Bit of technical weather background 1. A Sudden Stratospheric Warming on the 6th of January (remember the Beast from the East in late February 2018 preceded by one three weeks earlier) 2. A weak Polar Vortex or less low pressure in the Arctic made worse by the Warming 3. The lag effect from the end of Solar Minimum last year just like January /February/March and November /December 2010 came after the end of the last 11 year cycle solar minimum 4 Plus in my own opinion the lack of aircraft in the sky allowing more heat to radiate to space due to lack of exhaust pollution in the earths outer atmosphere . Same as happened in the few days after 9/11 This increases our chances of more snowy outbreaks in the next few months and potentially a cold spring as well as our more normal westerly winds are suppressed in favour of more easterly winds in the northern hemisphere. Another observation is the more intense colours in the sky currently again a result of less air and ground exhausts. Witness city centre pollution levels in Glasgow falling to safe levels. Don"t put the snowplough away just yet.Dafodils out here and looked like a spring day. Never see so much grass about
