British friesian bulls

I’ll just throw this out there, I wouldn’t touch him with a 10ft barge pole. Based on nothing more than the fact we’re even wondering.
Probably right just a wide tall bull with good milk and solids which is what I’m wanting. Anyone know who bought the first choice of calves out of the Wendy embryos that were sold at the BLACK AND WHITE sale?

Try some Goonhilly Josh semen, tall and wide. I have just calved some heifers from him. They’re impressive don’t you think @Jdunn55
Are they the two who calved this week? If so they're very nice, I dont think they'll work in your new parlour though, far too comfortable where they are, best leave them there, after all we wouldnt want to upset them? 😁

got to admit, he looks a nice strong bull, certainly better than some of the long legged narrow, small bodied that are in many catalogues, a lot lot better.
He does and Mary mead seemed to think a lot of the dam and it’s sister in the video they had to advertise him, just odd he’s for sale and farm to farm on north west auctions, doesn’t even say he’s been an AI bull which normally is something people are proud of if they’re selling a stock bull that has been in stud.

This is one I'm excited to for, apparently hes an out cross as well, with no chad, glen albyn and hylke (I think!) Would be good to see what his full set of figures will look like. Cogent apparently have quite a few new friesians coming through in the next few months

I liked him as well, don’t think he’s an outcross I’m sure he’s by tournament and out of a Tarquin out of a glen albyn but I might be wrong. Hoping for sexed to put on some shorthorn cows. Got another called contender by petham Caesar gone in as well.you can tell what I do in my spare time anyway😂

cogent put their vital statistics on as well, which certainly help, but companies do for genomic holstiens, so why not fr, or am i being to fussy.
I prefer to have figures but none of the bulls would be there if they weren’t from good cows and sires, how they used to breed them

Just looked and you're right, not an out cross unfortunately

Least it’s not another chad son.
Trouble is, if you put an out cross bull out with a lower pli because hes not got any chad in for example, everyone would be saying hes a sh*t bull because his pli is lower. It's one reason I hate the pli, sci and aci scales because good bulls and cows are considered not good because ahdb has decided this week that calving ease is a bit more important or fertility is more important than last week

Very true. Manorpark google looks a good bull for a outcross. Proven too.

the fr breed was heavily influenced by the hol over the years, many bulls could be 'down' sized hols, so, if they can provide the genomic figures for young hol bulls, why cant they for genomic fr bulls ? As @Jdunn55 says, for the lower yielding herds, yield is not the b-all, but shape is important. Sort of gone off SCI, to many holstien bulls in it, most of which would simply melt away in a grazing regime.

But you have to remember if the Friesian breeders had kept the breed more productive ,instead of just breeding " nice " cows Holsteins would not be so dominant & Friesians such a minority breed with a very restrictive gene pool. We had Friesians and they just got smaller & fatter with less& less milk with each generation. The fault lies with supposed top breeders yrs ago obsessed with neat cows perfect udders & as a consequence they bred the milk out of the breed.Look at photos of the breed in the 80s & then look at the 50s and see the absence of that huge milk vein. Admittedly a much more correct cow but less productive
