Lets face it the ea are just there to waste money and create jobs
I disagree. Many of the local staff are excellent and trying hard inside a broken system. The management line, however, is another matter.

Oh, and staff numbers are down over 20% from 2005. Some teams are so understaffed they are ineffective (especially waste enforcement teams - powerless now in the face of rising flytipping).

I thought the main issue with P in water was washing powder & soap etc ?

Not any more. Less P in household detergents and (forced) investment in phosphate extraction at the sewage works. The exception is excess storm flow that is released directly into water courses.

AG is the biggest source of P pollution into watercourses now that the water authorities have upped their game.

I will ask @Woodlander on Monday when I do my FACTS update course but I don’t think that P is leachable unless in serious excessive levels. Most P pollution is from surface run off of manures, slurry or topsoil containing high levels of P.

Because he's created the conditions where erosion has happened, and to help him stop his farm ending up in the sea.

That as may be.....but do we know whether he doing anything incorrect? This seems like trial by social media once again.

“Soilpatrol” suggests a crime has been committed.

I don’t like the accusatory attitude at all.

Yes, it's particulate p. Actual p is very immobile.

Well they should be happy when farmers help them out and get done what needs doing then

Think the EA have turned their attention to this 20 miles down stream on the Wye, 20mm of rain in a day caused this.......
So will Soil Patrol be going to help with support or remedial work, checking nearby drains and ditches to make sure they're flowing, giving permission to get and do clean up work...? It doesn't make it clear how they plan to help.

The impression the Tweety conveys to me is they will turn up like judge dredd and convict the land owner of some heinous crime... Is that really the impression a publicly funded body be promoting....

Every town, city council or water board should be responsible for their stretch of the waterways and maintain accordingly, then there would be no problem. Adjustable weirs and reservoirs should be built in the necessary places to control and store water when needed and gently release when not. As I’ve said before, for a first world country in this day and age we should not be allowing people’s homes to be flooded!
River Boards..... now where have I heard that working in the past.... ?

It would seem his "tweet" is backfiring judging by the grief he is getting on twitter currently.
A lot of people pulling him up over his judgemental tone and accusing him of division. Not just farmers either.
He's a bit like the EA version of Packham 🙈

Going to be complaining to Ea by email at weekend. If I went on line and wrote something like that, clearly in my capacity as an employee, then I'd expect my company to pull me up on it and rightly so.

two many chiefs not enough indians? not supprising in so many cases , few examples armed forces shrinking and will be cut again but generals and admirals same number ? min of defence ? hitler marveled that our small country, this was before the war could administrate the british empire with all the civiil servants etc etc this was before the days of computers ? police crime comissoner on £1500 a week what do they do ? Local council more more houses so more money from council tax , vote to reduce numbers and services at the front line, yet create more jobs worthes at the top like wild life survey when you want to build something, consultants consultants, the millions of pounds my local council wastes on them, giving a long report that a child could have come up with ?

The trouble is that many of the larger water ways are far beyond the abilities of anyone but the largest farmer to manage. Here on our little 20 foot ditch :) the old dear opposite has a huge task removing all the trees damning it. In fact there is not a chance she would do anything being a bunny hugger:)

I can see that perspective.

Currently they won't allow anyone who wants to or is able to.

And how has their budget / cost to the nation changed during that time?
Up or Down?
