Valtra v John Deere

That's always my bugbare with the Fendt trans. OK theres seperate oils which they make much noise about, but the brakes oil is still with the transmission, which is just the thing that needs protecting the most.
That
A fitter here said ‘the people that think Ford tractors are the best are always the ones that haven’t had anything else but a Ford’
there horrible things if you’ve driven anything else :cautious:

And the fellows who don’t like valtras and run them down have never owned one , there was a lad here who hated valtras because the spool valve levers were facing the wrong way for him , or a lad that can’t see the pick up hitch or a lad who thinks they are ugly , all serious reasons to run down a tractor. But when you have over 65,000 hours of hard work put on valtras with very little trouble , and I could say near no trouble , only wear and take issues after big hours , no continuous petty stupid issues or electrical faults , tractors that you can trust with 15,000 hours on them to go and do a summers work with out letting you down . The amount of high hour valtras turning up these days is growing fast, when i see contractors running tractors with 25,000 hours on them and they working away the same as the first day , I met a contractor spreading slurry on a farm one day , he had a t170 on a 3500 gallon tanker with 27000 hours on it and a t 170 with 24000 on it working away the same as new and I asked him when was he trading up, he answer was “Why change them there working away and giving no trouble what more will a new one do , it’s money I’m making , not spending” . I never meet contractors running other brands to these crazy high hours , and why , because they need realibi lite and don’t trust their brands , well I’ve no problem trusting a valtra to just simply stay doing the job that I bought it for. This thing of changing tractors every 5 or 6 years is some waste of money. If you can’t trust your tractor to do at least 15-18000 hours then there is a problem with the tractor.

I never ran the tractor down, it was said that the hitches were bad to see then somebody said the telescopic hitch had changed that. I said no it hasn't you questioned my ability to drive I posted a picture out of the back window. But I haven't seen any response from you to prove that they are easy to see from out the back window

People will spend their money as they wish. But obviously they don't always want to spend their money on a reliable brand that they don't like.
Land rover are one of the most unreliable vehicles in the satisfactory surveys, but still they sell well. A neighbour of mine had to put a new engine in a 2 year old range rover and still bought another new one of them recently .
Maybe this buyer doesn't want or need a reliable tractor for 25000 hours.
Maybe he is just getting ammunition here to use against the jd dealer.
By the way.. the spool levers on the valmets were the wrong way around and they surely were ugly.
But the new ones, in my opinion are 1 of the nicest around, and the yellow wheeled ones claim top prize for the ugliest...

I am most definitely not looking for ammunition against anyone.
I’m changing my tractor for a main tractor/loader tractor.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with my current JD it’s not needed a a new head gasket, brakes or anything other than consumables....the only reason I came on here asking about a valtra was I was recommended one and the new John Deere’s have poor visibility for a loader, could I live with that for just putting bales onto a trailer? I don’t know.
I’m certainly not going to spend £80k on a different make of tractor without getting the general opinions of people who own and use one. What’s become evident is that people get very defensive over their preferred choice of tractor. Personally I’m open minded enough to listen and learn.

One thing I was told by a man who sells machinery but has no connection to valtra was when he went on a factory tour there was a big TV screen up on the wall where they build the tractors agco had installed it,on it was a target number of tractors to be built that day also on it was actual number built. He asked the man showing him round what happened if they hadn't made the target at the end of the day, he told him they just went home. He said they would not rush to build a tractor just to meet there daily target

Anybody who has ever had a Jcb factory tour is mind blown and from that alone wouldn't look at buying anything else. Doesn't always translate to the product. Tour guides are company men/salesmen.

Have you actually tried a valtra?

I've been to JCB can't remember anything remarkable. I don't know about valtras operation but all I took from what he said was they take there time to screw them together rather than rush just to have another tractor out the door at end of day. Hopefully that results in a reliable Machine I know parts they put in may still fail

Being open minded is great, it is a big investment.
I was talking to a man last week. 25k hours on a 6910. Doing up engine now. Trouble free up to now he said 😳

I agree with your comments regarding seeing the pickup hitch even at full extension it's impossible too see on a T4.

It's a similar issue in other brands too.

To be fair its not that good on my 6130 as the electric spools impair vision a bit, it was a lot better on my last one with manual spools
