Valtra v John Deere

I know people always say that but we have run 3 models over the last 30 years with no issues. The upgrade to the 4th last year is best not spoken about though...
Never knew any different to Deere balers always thought they were the bees knees until the 854 turned up here hideous thing couldn't do a roll of net without chucking at least half a dozen loose ones, plus u could never get plenty weight in them , you live and learn and end up with a vicon RV 52xx series and find out what a good baler is.

I currently run a 6630, done nearly 12000 hours, thinking that I might look at a n174 when it’s time to change.
Lots of things to consider, dealer, depreciation, and sometimes it’s best to stick to what you know.
But ultimately they all go wrong at some point!

I know what you mean. I’ve sat in several over the years and never really wanted to own one. I just had a look at the Valtra G135. I guess possibly not big enough for what you want?
I would want 150hp plus, but I’d be looking at second hand! I didn’t realise there were 2 Valtra dealers In Cornwall!
Have you had a visit from a case rep yet?

I haven’t had a visit. I have a phone call or two from junior and senior management. From what I’m told it’s going well. I also looked at a 6120m. But again not hardly big enough think that boosted to 145. Lovely and nimble though. I know you can’t judge on just one tractor but the money invested in a Valtra owned by a contractor close to me is frightening really. Considering owner driver an all. I’d bet it’s north of 10k in the last couple years.

Blimey, that’s not good, I wouldn’t mind finding another 6630, or maybe a 6130r but I’m in no rush.
But know a couple of people with n series valtras who like them.

There probably isn’t much wrong with any of them really. Lot of it is luck sometimes. And a good percentage of breakages I always think have a fair bit to do with how it’s treated. A low houred 6630 would be fair money I bet. If you can find one. I bet you won’t have lost much on your current one.

I am most definitely not looking for ammunition against anyone.
I’m changing my tractor for a main tractor/loader tractor.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with my current JD it’s not needed a a new head gasket, brakes or anything other than consumables....the only reason I came on here asking about a valtra was I was recommended one and the new John Deere’s have poor visibility for a loader, could I live with that for just putting bales onto a trailer? I don’t know.
I’m certainly not going to spend £80k on a different make of tractor without getting the general opinions of people who own and use one. What’s become evident is that people get very defensive over their preferred choice of tractor. Personally I’m open minded enough to listen and learn.

Not based on any experience of them at all but if you like the Valtra and are happy with the dealer, then get one bought. Nothing wrong with buying something different and they're a major brand now (in the UK) so you shouldn't have trouble moving it on when the time comes.
I've always quite liked them but probably have less than 100 hours driving them and that was the old ranges.
Everything breaks down.

Could you get it in JD green?

I test drove today...the N134 and a T154
What I noticed (in my opinion of course)
Was that inside the cab it was noisier than my current tractor.
The brakes were as soft as clarts
But the most concerning thing was the gear change from C to D was horrific, it just died and lost all forward momentum till I’m kicked in again.
Everything ejse was good though.

We’ve a n103 hi tech 5 and id say the c-d thing you learn to drive accordingly,I.e. change down a range when you anticipate the need.

However I’ve never driven a modern Deere.
