Fert spreader depreciation, price to swap.

I think it was meant as when you trade it next time
The screen is just a universal iso terminal so no real reason to trade it in unless there’s a big leap forward in the technology. It will always have some value if sold with the spreader but could just as easily be sold on its own to run any iso machines.

The easiest way to justify the spend is in terms of time saving using wider spread and less travelling to fill. If the fertiliser is already transported to the field and the loader there too, it is difficult to see much saving, but if you are hauling the fertiliser from the yard a decent distance, the savings will add up quickly. If you intend to go one man band with less reliance on your dad, then the bigger hopper would be a game changer. I would of thought it will boil down to whether your dad wants to do more or less as he gets older.

I’ve made my figures reasonably simple £9000 to change divided by age of old spreader 10 years =£900 divided by 2000 acres a year =45p/acre. Trouble is I see the workload of the new spreader almost halving with gs4 silage mixes and spring crops and no rape grown now
That's interesting.
I've had a price to change a 10 year old 3000l spreader for a 3200l weigh cell, vari rate, section control ready Amazone and it's 10.5k. I think it's not a bad price, can probably trim that as I don't need such a big one!

Ok, for those that haven’t noticed the hint in the reply to An Gof, the deal is done 😬. Managed to get him down a little bit more on price so all good 👍.
Machine is a wide body TL 3225 so holds just over 5.5 bags which will be a massive help, could half the spreading time on some jobs.

I think Phil P basically needs to spread wider which as he says the CL will not go above 28m.
As far as carrying weight of fert I don't carry much more than 2500kg, just too heavy most of the time and 2t is the norm(2x1ton bags)urea or urea/sulphur. Tractor on the front is easily big enough for fert spinner 175hp with 10t lift and could handle a larger spinner.

I may be out but I’m sure it’s 31, it’s on sprout beds so not sure how it works in. I just know my current, sorry I mean my previous machine 😉 wouldn’t spread wide enough.
The extraordinary meeting with the board went well then?
Just said " the TFF's say yes"?

Please!

I normally have to start the year before any change for it to happen so I've left it late this year.

You've done me a favour though, my price to change looks relatively good in comparison!🙄

Does the new one do 31m ie extra 0.5m either side? :D

What model this is a zav 3200l. It’s not got section control that’s probably the difference

Did you get twin border spreading or just the standard single side?

Had quotes for a 3200l zav control which will do variable rate but no weigh cells. £8500 to change.
And 3200l zav profis tronic isobus controlled £10500 to change.
Not sure if there's anything in between?

Have you considered weight? If i remember correctly, you are running big 6r traktors.
i have a 3200 liter spreader that takes 3 tons. I use it on a 7830. With 900 kg in the front 3pt, it weighs about 11 tons on the back axle. Thats more than we can run early in the spring. With narrow sprayerwheels on in the summer, the tyres load rating only permits 2 bags (1500 kg). Thats 380/90r54.
So 5,5 bags sounds like a lot on that tractor to me.

I’m not sure but I have just been working my own out since your op as I’ve been having quotes for new spreaders and they seem dear on our relative small acreage. To replace a 10 year old Amazone for similar machine but with a weigh cell it would be 45p an acre of acres covered by spreader only applying nitrogen as we dont use bagged p&k
What do you get p and k in I assume it goes in a lime Type spreader?
