Did all my 1st cut ground that hasnt had slurry on it yesterday. Grazing ground is too wet to travel so will probably be another week or 2. The silage is mostly italian and has been greening up for a little while. Always think if I get some good weather at the end of Feb its best to crack on, could quite easily get wind and rain for a fortnight then be thinking I have missed the boat.

You’re obviously a youngster, Grease was a film from the 1970’s at the start of John Travoltas acting career. 👍
I always thought that Olivia Newton John was the star. You know the one - she made skintight satin jeans/leggings
very fashionable. I was young then and played a lot of pool down the pub, and whenever one of the girls, wearing one
of these pairs, bent over to take a shot - they inevitably squealed!!.

Hi All,

This has likely been discussed ad infinitum but here we go again as I can't seem to find a relaxant thread on the subject.
When to apply 20-10-10 to grassland now that T sum 200 is no longer published?
OK conventional wisdom states "March time" but is there anything more scientific out there than that? I also can't seem to find much in the way of area specific local temperature data otherwise I could work out my own T sum number (we're based in Shropshire). If anyone has any pointers or can provide some sage advice then it would be most welcome!
Many thanks to all in advance.

This is weekend if you can travel, or later next week as it dries out. I am a believer in a tickle on N put on in good ground conditions, waiting for when it's wanted.

The cold nights for the next few days will stop much growth, but it was deffo showing signs of greening up early in the week.

If you can travel and soil temp is greater than 5C then go ahead.

The first fields to have a go at are the ones with Perennial Ryegrass mixtures and recent re-seeds. If cover is above 400kg DM/ha (about 6cms) they will benefit and respond best.

Also, go for your fields with the best soil fertility >6.2 pH.
