the french presdent made a load of statements about the vaccine when the eu had made a mess of vaccine procurement and made the problem 1000 times worse
he should have made his statements based on facts he knew instead of reading the daily mail
this has now undermined the vaccine rollout in france

the facts are that the vaccine was tested on a few thousand people summer last year found to have a few mild side effect in some people as all the vaccines do and that it was effective in reducing covid
tested anti body levels were found in most vaccine recipients
because the levels of covid were low in the tested areas it was harder to see the effects of the vaccine on reducing covid in the tested people

now with millions vaccinated in real life the effectiveness of all the vaccine is higher than in the test as indicated by the antibody levels in the tested groupes

As I said a few weeks ago on here when our French friends on here were slating the AZ vaccine, UK has done the world a favour by having a real large scale live trial involving millions of old people. Results now showing it was a good decision. And the vaccine is working well. EU health officials and regualators with hindsight were wrong. Napoleon was playing politics - he got it wrong.

Boris took a flyer with AZ and it worked. It just could have ended in tears with bad reactions long term illness and even deaths. Bravo.
I have no problem with the French HAS waiting for the data. I would prefer the Pfizer as there's less side effects reported and I don't want 2 weeks off at a busy time.
Certainly won't have it at the same time as Mrs lbp as can't have both of us sick at the same time.
No, it couldn't have worked out anywhere near as badly as you make out, that's fake news / plain lies to try and blacken your Brexited enemies and mitigate the problems in your beloved, holy EUtopia.

In fact this type of vaccine is relatively modern, and it is very well understood indeed; both its relatives and its modelling indicated that the worst that could happen - barring the miniscule numbers who react badly to all / any vaccines - was a bit of nausea and, most relevantly, little or no effect against the virus.

As with your claims against Boris, I ask you to post evidence for what you write - credible and accredited sources will do. But as with your false accusations against Boris, I don't expect any such evidence from you.

You really can't leave that bone can you! Just accept Napoleon fecked up.
The EU as a whole, and the individual countries too, all made huge mistakes. The false assertions about the AZ vaccine were - as a UK Prof. of immunology stated publicly - purely an attempt at demand management based on no credible scientific facts, but which actually worked very well.

The problem is it worked too well. They have gone from successfully distracting their publics from the shortages of vaccines, to creating mass scepticism regarding vaccine efficacy and safety. Meaning fewer take the jab, meaning a longer and more widespread problem with the virus... :banghead: :( :banghead: :( :banghead: :(

Form a charity for donors to pay for the decorating!
Boris was sacked from 2 newspapers, matter of public record.
The Prime Minister faced further trouble last night over claims that Whitehall ethics chiefs have refused to approve his secret bid to help raise funds for the makeover by setting up a 'Downing Street charity

Plenty of people can read, numerous articles in French , here's one in English on CNN as well

Hi, you have posted it before. And I clicked the link and read it. Yep, side effects as there are in UK - indeed on this thread or another thread folk report these. And as I think you are aware not unusual with any vaccine for individuals to have an adverse effect (now the issue is how adverse is the effect - as adverse is not a quantified objective word). You will find same in UK newspapers. Bad news always sells. Folk have two choices - as yet vaccination is not mandatory.

All in all my view is its fine if the French do not want to use AZ vaccine. That is upto them. But Napoleon was foolish and irresponsible with what he said about the AZ vaccine. And his views seem to be supported by the French contingent on here. And good luck to you all, but each to their own as it were. I buy Chilean Red Merlot as I prefer it to French. But I don't go bleating and slagging off French Merlot - just leave others to buy what they please.

According to my Dr we will have 2 choices, take our turn when called and get what they supply.
Wait for the open supplies in the Pharmacie at the end of summer , choose which vaccine from probably 3 which as we're very rural will be one of the easy storage ones.
