That's good going. We started lambing first of march. I like the llyen breed iv got 3 that have had triplets and they are rearing them well just off the grass all the lambs are same sizethey were last years. I’ve got 3 and half week old lambs lambs at moment hitting 25 kg off grass at moment.
I lamb outside pure Lleyn ewes to both char and put Lleyn rams. Start last week in Feb.
weighed some today.

Yea your lambs are very good. I dont mind investing in the breed aslong as I get the results. I want a breed that will do well on grass with little cake inputThe cross to char is very good I feel. You get a tight skinned well muscled lambs that live buyers love.
They lamb well outside but I’ve invested a fair bit in good Lleyn rams to get the ewes I want and am picky about my char rams.
I was looking at the aberfield breed. I'm interested in the aberfield sr that has llyen genetic inI'd recommend that you put aberfield on the lleyns first cross, then use a texel on them after like these View attachment 952961
I've been crossing aberfield with lleyn ewes for 5 years now and I like the ewes better than pure Lleyn.... But the aberfield SR that I've seen didn't impress me at allI was looking at the aberfield breed. I'm interested in the aberfield sr that has llyen genetic in
My ewes are all different ages but they have thrown cracking lambs from my texel rams. Have you got any pictures of your abermax or suftex lambsWe kept Lleyn x Texel gimmers back for a couple of years to get numbers up and they have been good ewes. Have put and Abermax back over them and also a NZ Sufftex from Easy Rams. Both work well, probs a smarter lamb from the Abermax but heavier and easier lambing from the Sufftex.
Ah I see. How well does your ewes milk and do they do good on just grassI've been crossing aberfield with lleyn ewes for 5 years now and I like the ewes better than pure Lleyn.... But the aberfield SR that I've seen didn't impress me at all
Maybe a little Beltex and don't feed them much.We was thinking of putting a nz texel
Thanks. My ewes dont have cake until 6week due to lamb then it's only twins and triplets that get it. All done of grass and mineral bucketsMaybe a little Beltex and don't feed them much.
Charolaise out of Lleyn ewes are hard to beat.
