Weaners seemed to be up yet another notch at Carlisle today.Dont know where it will end. 4 month old bull and Heifer stirks £600 +. Did you see the trade @Raider112 ?
Aye had a look in, bulls in demand, I thought the weaners started off a touch easier with some of the bigger buyers showing a bit more interest but they were on fire by the end. Some roughish, horned suckler bred bullocks about 250kg at about £840 looked dear but they'll look a lot different in 3 months.

There’s a lot more to it than profit. Can you farm them on the ground you have available? Do you need the money? Will keeping hoggs effect your lamb crop?
A store lamb buyer has his money laid out for around 6 months for the bulk of it. Different matter keeping hoggs bred from you own ewes, more like 18 months money laid out and 2 lots of feed to buy

I know it’s a different week, but do you think that’s better than Longtown?
It’s not fair too judge, hoggs are 20ppk up everywhere this week. Last weeks hoggs would have made more this week, but I had nowhere too keep them growing from last week too this, and I had a hell of a do last week! So I'm still very very pleased.

I’ll have a better idea when I hear Longtown averages tomorrow. My polled hoggs always seem too sell identical between the two but I still think a large amount of SBF will sell better in Longtown.

The week before Easter can be a strange trade never sure if the buyers want them or not and a lot of hoggs coming of wintering and maybe not quite finished.

I’ve always found it a boom or bust week. I try not too sell that week unless summoned by the auction. Worked this year. But I have taken hoggs home from Easter week before now and sent them a fortnight later again at rather a nice increase in price!

Not sure if they will be 20p up by the time the buyers realise there’s 6000 in today
Maybe or maybe not
