Could be lots of culls out nxt week with every1 thinking the same, maybe the week after will be the wk...? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
I cashed a ruck this week, I was planning on missing and doing a big draw next week. Little niggling feeling telling me that lots of people might be aiming for this next week so it might not be quite as fiery as it was at the start of Ramadan. Still got some too go regardless but it will be interesting too see.

Speaking too one auctioneer yesterday. He’s not sure what the crack will be this week. He knows several BIG outfits are lined up too offload lots of hoggs into the markets this week, talking by the artic load, not just 100 here and 75 there. He’s just hoping the orders are there too match entries.

If they’ll never get meat you mays well sell them this week on a good trade as sell a bad ewe on a bad trade! They want the lean feckers, you’ll be surprised what the sh1t come to, better than picking a dead’un up to! I’ve got fifty going Tuesday weaned off lambs, mays well take advantage while there wanted, I don’t think the numbers are about🤷‍♂️
First year I’ve put cull ewes in with hoggs on feed. Some do well more than most some do bog all

Charollais ewes have done their milking by 8 weeks and are just getting fat now, stealing the lambs’ grass. I had that early mob (lambed late Feb/early March) in last week and was amazed how much the ewes had put on in the last fortnight or so.

I was thinking more of catching the ewe trade at it’s peak, rather than the lambs tbh. 7 year old recipient ewes running with them will be off next week for certain.
So do you have to put all the lambs in with the cades at 8 weeks off the charalois ewes??

It sounds like the TFF brains trust have come to the conclusion that w/c May 10th is THE week. Which is handy as I've some odds and ends left and can't be arsed going to St Boswells tomorrow. So next Monday it is 👍

they where end of Feb / early march. not very old really but some of the ewes looked like death, there was no grass and just wanted rid while the trade was good. there where eating a lot of creep before I weaned them.

I guess that’s the gamble for me. If they start eating lots of creep after the ewes have gone or not. I’ve not a blade of grass but they have been offered silage in feeders. And about 0.5kg or so of ewe rolls so the old girls are still milking and looking in reasonable condition all things considered. Just don’t want to miss that trade!

I know a farmer not a million miles from me who has 1700 hoggs outside on hoppers at moment and by a week on Tuesday they will have gone.

So everyone held them for next week cos they are going to be a good trade.....now there’s that many getting sold next week they’ll be a sh!t trade....you can’t beat farmer logic
Happens every time, the other absolute belter is when the auctioneer rings you an says they’ll be short an there wanted!! What he doesn’t say is he’s rang every other fecker with a paddock an told them the same!! An then if they’re really everymans friend they ring the buyers who they’re usually up the arse of an tell them they’ll have it off tomorrow cus he’s got it primed!! It’s as sure as night🤫
