Has anybody had a go in the new 520 pioneer?
Look quite an interesting alternative to a quad bike without moving to the bigger heavier side by sides. Nippier, manoeuvrable, and easy ran into a bike trailer for shipping between blocks of land.

Top Tip.

What’s the price like ? Or is it a case of if you have to ask you can’t afford it.

How far apart are your blocks of land? Can't find any details but surely it will be as fast as the bigger pioneer, may as well just drive it between blocks

How have you been feeding on outlying land now you’ve stopped running the Gator?
We always ran a bike with the Gator, as the gator was great in bad weather but numb and slow for handling cattle, everybody folk around here with a utv has a bike as well. When it’s too wet for the pickup we just tow the bike in a trailer

Interesting idea. I saw it the other day and was first I’d heard of it. My Honda foreman stuck in gear so whist the mrs poured some calming coffee into me I started browsing quad bikes. She thought it was great as she would be able to ride with me in a little more comfort than the Foreman. Though after the Foreman why I even look on the Honda website I don’t know. It’s an auto and has always been a bit of a pig for sticking in gear. Had sensors changed but still does it. Anyway, not seen one but if anyone does get their hands in one be interested to know what they think. Don’t think it looks like it will be as stable as a quad and might be numb with calf milk mixer on which puts me off somewhat.

Just thought that without a full cab it wouldn’t be much heavier than a bike as our land is really wet enough for a heavy utv, but with the advantage of a box on the back for dogs, which is about the only thing I miss not having the gator anymore.

Width and length pretty similar to a Honda Foreman - is that correct? I’ve found my tape measure but now Farther has disappeared on quad. Lack of cab I like but some whingers here might grumble about screen and roof  Dimensions make it doable for backing milk mixer up ally between calf pens and tray on back looks useful for carting out feed in bags to cattle in fields. Dogs could ride on tray too subject to ejecting them from cab. Doesn’t look much more expensive than a honda foreman? Wonder how agile it is turning tight turns moving stock and stopping breakaway Angus heifer yearlings?

Looks the business, often lose a dog off a rack on our steep banks and good for moving mag licks, fencing stuff etc. Downside is jumpy honda gearbox and no power steering

Local Honda guy has just put on Facebook that he is getting a demo one soon, so might give him a ring later in the year for a demo

Watched a YouTube vid or two. Worth looking at one. One review said gearbox had a jumpy change. Reverse looks a funny arrangement though guess you may get used to it. Pull a lever under dash and tap the ‘-’ paddle. On quad bike wales website it says it has power steering?

You are probably right 🤣

My local dealer no longer has a Honda franchise. Guess nearest is Agars up at Ravenscar. About 40 miles away but a nice family outfit. I think Russell’s at MALTON are Honda dealers though when I called in for oil filter for quad they said that all the Honda quad stuff was up at Northallerton and they would get one shipped down.

Id be interested to take a look at one. Gear change on my Foreman TRX auto can snatch something awful and then I’m sick of seeing the dash on display meaning it’s stuck in gear or it doesn’t know what to do. Went back to dealers for servicing and it was tweaked or had a software update and it always seemed worse on return. It’s had 2 sensors on the gear change which tells the ecu where the gear selector is and is ok for a while but soon goes back to its evil ways. Good bike spoiled by the aforementioned. I swore no more Honda and thought a look at a Yamaha Kodiak 700 sometime.
