Cows going off all the time here and crop going in.
What are the changes you've noticed tbe last 20 years? The main things I've noticed is a lot of people have developed their steading, built new ones, upgraded kit and are sitting pretty, those that haven't are having to go contracting etc
Same story everywhere sadly .This sale that @shearerlad was selling at today incorporated the Aberfeldy show and there will have been nowhere near the numbers from that area today than in the past.
Same with the November sale of spring born suckled calves. 15-20 years ago Perth market used to have 3000 calves at it going on till 9pm at night. Last year there was about 800.
No wonder they decided to close it within 20 years of building it. The stock are just not there in many areas anymore
Think the boys at UA always had selling the Perth mart for housing development at the back of their minds. This sale that @shearerlad was selling at today incorporated the Aberfeldy show and there will have been nowhere near the numbers from that area today than in the past.

Theres a lot of quality cattle up around here.I think Shearerlad must still be celebrating.
I hadn't realised that such good quality cattle were sold at the Aberfeldy sale.
Is this a financial decision or a lifestyle one though? I reckon the cattle add a half tonne per acre to my cereal crops with all the muck and grass in the rotationCows going off all the time here and crop going in.
Both probably and retirement. Is this a financial decision or a lifestyle one though? I reckon the cattle add a half tonne per acre to my cereal crops with all the muck and grass in the rotation
Lovely cattle but they surely will be bought to stay in won't theyThat time of year again when hopefully somewhere in the country there is a bite of grass. 34 yearlings going to UA Stirling on Wednesday

av at a year old?Think their going to be £1250+
I had some 12 month Angus at 1300 and didn’t have as much shape as them .av at a year old?
Wouldn't rule it out at min with price been making , if not top out at 1250av at a year old?
Trade with you is always way up on anywhere else , even in bad years. Quality cattle as always and i bet your average will be £150-200 up on last year. I would be surprised if they ever went out againSome will need a while at grass but I’d imagine the majority will go into a finisher ration.
Average was £951 last year, trade is flying too but it’s difficult to gauge when you can’t just pop in to have a look at the sale
