Looking too pit up a wind turbine to try and cut down on buying electricity. What’s the best options ? I’ve been told if I get a grid connection it will probably cost 8k and then a transformer upgrade of 3k would be needed . Is ecocycle a decent company for small scale wind ?
it is not too important ref the kw output as long as the inverter is locked to 16A per phase max,
have you thought about solar, they are a lot less hassle, fit and forget apart from the occasional cleaning,
you can get 280w panels for about £60 each,
inverters have 10 year warranty with solar,
If you don't have any other generation, and assuming you have a 3-phase connection, then a single Gaia would fit under the 16A limit. on a typical open 6m/s you should get around 38MWh a year. Eocycle are pretty decent and offer a fixed price package - its a 25kW machine so to compare that would produce about 73MWh but you would need a grid connection agreement under G99 so those costs need to be added back in. I would be happy to look at some production figures for you.
