Well thats a statement...you wont have as many to lose will you...one can only lose them onceI reckon if you have heavy losses at lambing you don’t loose many after , if you have most survive lambing you have a drip feed of losses until next lambing, it tends to level out one way or tother .
The key to it is to set off with plentyWell thats a statement...you wont have as many to lose will you...one can only lose them once
Then buy even moreThe key to it is to set off with plenty
My guess it was the wind chill aswellWhy would frost kill lambs ?
There certainly hardier than the charollais I used to use! Be nothing alive if I still used them!I used a texel on some sheep this year , had bad storm Monday afternoon till we’d afternoon lost a few all texel they are as soft as shyt .
Aye wind spoils all weathers .My guess it was the wind chill aswell
. an I took it they froze after been born
I find them soft compared to the romneys, any cold trouble is all texel .There certainly hardier than the charollais I used to use! Be nothing alive if I still used them!
@livestock 1 would have 2 helicopters & a biplane in that case!Thats what i sometimes think...if they all lived youd be payin the taxman!

Minimum and anyone who says different is a lying melon or a full blown idiot who doesn’t count them too make himself feel better... I’m up too 11% and 3 weeks too go until I wean but iv killed some ewes this last 10 days they’re dropping like flies... rang a different knacker man yesterday because it was getting embarrassing
I lost exactly the same type of lamb yesterday. An absolute beauty of of a sheep, never bothers me to much when you can fit 5 in a bag but when you chuck them into the truck and they thump it breaks my heart!Lost a lamb this morning looked like pneumonia it was the best lamb in that batch probably one of the best ones on the place Texel x Beltex lamb off a Cheviot x Texel ewe
Backs up your theory
I had so many dead ewes on the yard 2 weeks ago that they sent a whole skip to fill! You’ll loose 15% scanning too weaning

We use some Beltex/Texel x tups and the lambs and the tups are soft. They get the best lamb I can from a mule but they seem to have the softest traits from both breeds. Pure Texel or pure Beltex is much harder. Even Charolais is tougherI lost exactly the same type of lamb yesterday. Plenty of them around here, all turned away with two each.I’ve a pall has a lot of sheep never looses any never has dead lambs never looses a ewe never has the knacker man , it would be depressing if it were true
I never know weather to be offended they think im that stupid to believe it or feel sorry for them as they got something wrong with them that makes them lie to themselves never mind everyone else .Plenty of them around here, all turned away with two each.
