Surprised the construction lobby haven't kicked up more of a fuss about this

Thats the best thing about stealth taxes most people don't know they are paying them till it is too late.
I had no idea this was happening till today.

Me thinks the travelling community Christmases will have come all at once,if red goes on ag operations.
We did run a derv tank a number of years ago until one night 500 gals went missing, didn't touch the red stuff,I don't bother with the stuff now.
They steal the stuff from parked lorries think of all the tanks dotted about farm yards, left unattended.
They will literally have a field day........won't even need a sharp drill with all those plastic fuel tanks!
Its worth a ruddy fortune.

Police pull them over with white, how can they tell the difference.

Better security :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

if your going to steal your fuel I doubt you care what colour it is

In 2020 a team of crack ploughmen were sent to prison by a kangaroo court for a crime they did not commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the English countryside.
Today, still wanted by the government they survive as ploughmen of fortune. If you have a no till problem, and if you want to return to proper farming, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A team..........

So will that mean farmers can no longer offer winter maintenance eg snow ploughing ?
I have to tender every September for the upcoming winter maintenance period so if i do have to use white then i will be able to factor that in to the tendered amount.

a farm could have a max rebate per ac / head of stock that could compare to other similar businesses

its all quite possible - but like VAT im sure you could try defraud it if that way inclined ……. personally I don’t fancy prison however

you could run your pickup on red today if you have no respect for the law so what’s the difference?
That sounds like something that........ RED TRACTOR would come up with !!!
Lots of extra work claiming and proving your rebate and trying to keep the pikeys from robbing fuel that is now much more expensive .
Another nail in the coffin of the small independent farmer .
I thought its less paperwork and bureacracy that farmers need .
Fucck the Gov and their Tax problems . If its fuel tax the want the should talk to Mick O Leary he burns more than all Ag in the British Isles and without any duty at all . Like flying was essential ......:scratchhead::scratchhead: Maybe it is but so is food ......

just sounds like how tax works to me (VAT) a good system that we all cope with just fine

The politics of jealousy. Your argument is invalid.
No... no... not at all just love seeing all this uncropped land in March and April where the Quadtrac couldn't go in October then get the phone call to come and drill it with the 4m combi or Claydon, thinking about it how would a contractor claim it back, guessing charge for it and the farmer claims it back.

Look at this from the ivory towers of Whitehall. If the tax rebate on red diesel was scrapped altogether then the move to no-till would happen almost overnight. If you have never hardly set foot on a real farm and every time you look at a farming related article or social media you see someone getting 12T/Ha of wheat by hardly doing anything then this is a win/win scenario. There isn't a politician alive that would tax flights to Benidorm before this!

This wouldn’t be the end of the world. Red diesel isn’t duty free now anyway. It’s just a lower duty rate.

Does anybody use Ultra 35 diesel?
This is Diesel without any of the renewable content that Red and Derv has in it.
As I understand it, it is used for engines that might not get regular enough use, where any renewable part of the fuel might cause damage to the engine by blocking the fuel system.
I’ve had problems on my working classics where this has happened.
Ultra 35 is cheaper than Red.

Ultra 35 is for burning only, boiler houses, tarmac plants etc.
Its a cheeper product than Gas oil, but doesn't have the same Cetane value as Red.
