One of the problems with the demise of the locally based plod. He would have known nearby farmers to call out to help in this situation

Traffic cars from Newcastle were trying to control a heifer on the`69 one day.
With their blue lights & sirens going FFs
One thing I will probably never forget. An old sow trotting N bound up the A1 with a police car behind with his blue lights on. Must be over 35 years ago down near Leeming bar.

ive no comment to make on the above, but from experience (several)can say that both the police and the fire brigade havnt a fecking clue how to deal with either farm or wild animals causing a problem in rural areas and even less so in urban and in most cases the jobsworth in charge is a total dick and even worse if theve got the rspca involved

I used to help out at a riding school that gave lessons to disabled people. The local fire brigade used to come out for training on how to handle horses that escaped, were involved in RTAs, etc. To be fair, the firemen took it seriously and were good with the horses.

Do we know if the impact killed the cow outright?

No, its said they rammed it 4 times then a vet put it out of its misery 20minutes later🤷‍♂️

Theres going to be facts from both sides missing from social media I'm sure but either way in the time they had something else could have been organized.

Nothing surprises me. About 4 months back now a car went past the house late one night revving and slowing, up and down up and down. “WTF I thought” Looked up the road the blues were on.

Instinctively thinking it might be sheep or lambs out Jumped in the car and followed, it was two ponies - cops had the siren on and off too. “fecking numpties I thought” I followed til I got to a fork in junction, slipped of to the left, next on right, right again and I was circled back on them and the police.
Stopped in middle of road, hazards on, turned my beams onto the sidelights, I get out, ignore the police and talk to the ponies calmly as I approach, get a gate opened and put them in the field.

All the police could do was ask me was where they mine :rolleyes:

Problem solved within 10 minutes. I’m convinced they would have run them to the main road and caused an accident if left to their own devices.

AC12 received CHIS tip off OCG (One Cow Gone bonkers) in neighbourhood. FAO N/A. DI's Arnott & Fleming authorised to use lethal force by DCS Hastings.

Suspect will be grilled at AC 12 HQ. ACC & MIT definately involved in cover up as OCG recently arrived from Spain
good job cow hadnt got back to its cubicle before expiring or how would they remove it being as how no one on here knows how to.... remove a dead horse from its stable

Saw them run an escaped cow up and down a shut dual carriage way and despite us being there refused to listen to us or let us sort it got her off the road and they shot her anyway
