Lambs

I have a 3 month old Ewe lamb that has developed a really bad odor coming from her mouth. When she cries she doesn’t open her mouth. I have pried her mouth open and she has white pussy stuff all in her mouth and as far down in her throat as I can see. What could this be and how should I doctor her?

Secondary infection after picking up orf perhaps, antibiotic therapy to get on top of the infection your best bet if so.

Had exactly this a month or so ago

Did exactly this

If there’s puss then there’s an infection, 1st job is to get some antibiotics into it, betamox LA is a go to on lambs as a rule and will treat majority of infections, also give some anti inflammatory.

All better very quickly(y)

Had issue from open abscess in mouths eating through x3 lambs last year - had to put them down as they were in pain no way could these holes mend. Vet put it down to secondary as we had border disease in flock.

That's good advice, worth taking bloods and getting them tested I reckon. Border Disease is nasty

For the OP I would also drench the lamb every day with electrolytes after you have AB treated it. If it won't drink or eat it will go downhill very fast. With an empty rumen it will develop acidosis really quickly and then even if it did start eating, there'd be no bugs to help it digest. I'd be prepared to put it down if it doesn't respond or starts dribbling.
