An it ain’t ChristmasYesterday an old boy across the hill from us rang up and offered us his couple of fields at handy rent but the road fence needs a few stumps too get it cow proof. So after lunch we nipped up and pushed a ruck in with the telehandler, made a right smart job of the fencing. Set off walking our spring sucklers up there last night too find when we got there that the sheep man over the back had opened the gap in the wall when he’d seen we had fixed the road fence! 200 Cheviot and swale hoggs busy grazing away!!
I won’t repeat what I said in the heat of the moment!!

One here has his sheep in ours on and off all year round
His wall blames our cattle for pushing it down and letting his sheep in
I asked him if our cattle had lifted all of the stone back onto our side of the wall afterwards

If you only have cows up there, the other option is to make sure the road fence is only cattle proof. 2 strands of barbed wire at an appropriate height should do it. Only way to stop some serial p*sstakers.

The fence was already loose sheep net with a slack strand of barb and a few buggered stakes. I just tightened everything up and stood it back up. I will want too put some old ewes up there come autumn so got too be sheep proof for me too.
