Thanks for that, I'm 5 years into min till and fighting like hell with amg, torn between front rake and the rollers i already have behind.... Or i really like the look of those sumo strakes, bit more than a rake by the look of them... Or the rollers with paddle idea, do any makers make paddle points with the chit job in mind? Strikes me that the paddle springs are nice and strong, more aggressive than a rake
They are not perfect, I don’t want to make them out to be something they are not, but my rolls needed changing, the dealers yards were full of second hand nearly new rakes, so along with a few negative comments and that fact I didn’t go down the rake route, went with the paddles as didn’t really have much to lose, get a nice forward speed and they seem to work better, mine are flat plates and like you say, a paddle point with something on it would be better, Opico do a setup, I wish I’d got them.

I found when you have the paddles aggressive enough to do the job they wold start to ball up. So you would have to keep raising and lowering the paddles. Spring barley were the worst.

Bought some nice short discs and there job will include light cultivation.

Thanks guys, aye, there do seem to be a lot of nearly new rakes, should maybe tell me something..... I've been working with my set of short discs, but i can't get them to do enough on the surface without going deep enough that I'm burying amg seed beyond germination depth, which then comes back up at a later date . Like the Crosscutter disc, but what a price!

Built a stubble rake very heavy frame adjustable angle of tine cuts into ground quite well 6mtrs wide folds up 10mm wide tine on flat spring tine did conside 8mm could cut in better.
That sounds a bit more like the sumo strake, i feel the weight would help, and flat springs less likely to keep breaking too
