New topper- woods or spearhead?

4.6m topper of mine is now coming up for change. I need it for permanent low input grass, organic conversion grass and clover, cover crop destruction, margins with woods bits etc. Cutting up to say 300ha a yr.

Had a spearhead and it has been excellent, but woods looks the business too, particularly with a clear top, making cleaning down infinitely less of a PITA which it is on the spearhead.

Any views welcome!

Thanks

I tried a woods years ago I liked our spearhead better. With more rear wheels and longer side skids it followed the ground better on rough stuff .

What age/ condition is your spearhead?

Buy a spearhead and buy yourself a stihl leaf blower to clean it down

20yrs. Not had a UJ or a gearbox in that time, and it has done some work. Had a few tyres, axle bearings etc though. Looks a bit rough, but still been cutting 20ha a day for the last few days.

If your current spearhead is 20 years old, we would have made that machine. Check the Serial Plate and see if its a Pershore trading estate address. If it is, its one we made when our founder Martin Lole owned Spearhead.

We have had Spearhead Toppers for years and they have always been very good, I do note the parts have become terribly expensive especially PTO shafts and guards, however I do think they are one of the best especially now you can get bigger tyres on them and a trailing axle which does help stop them tipping over, I have never looked art Razorback but will do next time

Yeah we've 1 the same age and exactly the same other than general wear it's been spot on.

It's been hired out a LOT and I would describe it as spares or repair :ROFLMAO: but still cuts away ok but we need an update now

I've got a 4.6m Woods. Really pleased with it. Easy to clean down as you say. Long warranty on the gearboxes, easy to grease UJs on the PTO as the guards all hinge up. We've had it three years now and really happy with it.

Got a woods machine arriving next week, if you’ve any queries speak to the importer Simon Richard. But as already mentioned a machine carrying 6 year cover on its driveline is better than most.

Spearhead stubble master is what you want it’s an animal. 3 lifting and 3 mulching blades a rotor, full walking axle and flat deck for easy cleaning.

Spearhead do a 470/630 or stubble master with a flat deck.

We discount all Spearhead parts, we stock a huge amount of shafts, guards, geabox's as well as the fast movers. if you would like prices on anything then please have a look on the below link.
