Managed to watch it now (courtesy of daughter and son in law).

It's very noticeable how more and more, with every episode, JC 'gets' the farming thing.
By the time they get to the harvest picnic bit at the end he has a very genuine smile on his face. He really does like the job - just like the rest of us.

Really enjoyed it. I hope they do more.
Kaleb and Gerald are priceless.

Theres a difference between that and altering/diverting a stream though.. surely??
Depends why it was diverted, i.e wetland creation or somesuch as part of a stewardship agreement with an eia in place, would likely be ok. Daming the brook, under the radar, for irrigation etc. you'd be asking for a world of pain. He's fairly high profile so i'm guessing it'd be above board.

It does sometimes come across, like with his damming the stream, as JFDI but I am sure that he's been watched like a hawk given his profile so he will have to be pretty sure and follow advice to the letter to comply with all the rules and regulations.
An example of this is with his Farm Shop, open a day then closed down because the Council wouldn't accept the tin food sheets.
Can you imagine the amount of JC haters who are about who want to see him fail? I admire the bloke for doing something he wants to do and just gets on with it.

Enjoyed the whole series, once harvest got under way and he found out how to drive the corn cart his enthusiasm for the job was very apparent. Ok the £144 profit was a silly clip, didn’t include the sheep or the bps or the environmental payments on the whole farm, that was purely on the 2020 cereals.
The interesting thing for me is that neither he or Lisa want to go back to London to live and he said it had been the happiest year of his life.
As we all know there is more to living on a farm than just the profit.

Your last paragraph sums it all up.

It also didn’t as far as I could tell include any costs related to the building of the farm shop new sheds environmental projects and the initial purchase costs of all the machinery. There’s probably many costs to include like insurance and Cheerful Charlie‘s fees.
I like Jeza and really enjoyed the programs immensely.
Jeza can kinda play at farming as it’s not life or death to him as he’s a pretty wealthy guy in his own right so he doesn’t have the weight of the financial pressures many farmers face day in day out .
Roll on the next series 👍

Enjoyed it all, it was entertaining enough for non farmers and issues were real enough for actual farmers I think.
Not sure it could sustain a second season given he seemed to have to do something completely new every episode.
Hope he carries on farming though, as presumably will at least keep writing about it which will I think be overall beneficial to the rest of us.

To quote from the late Mrs Merton's chat show. " So Lisa, what first attracted you to the multi millionaire Jeremy Clarkson?" .........

Ha ha, you cynic!

Google shows that she does like a challenging looking yet well off chap, but she seems lovely so good luck to her.

Think they are filming now although that does not necessarily mean a second series in the tv world as they waste money like you wouldn't believe filing things that never get aired.
