Take that Boris

All about hs2,I think I have read that this area is going to be badly affected by it and the lib dems campaign was to stop it.

That's almost certainly correct. Even staunch Tory voters UK wide will be pleased with the result, although it is probably too late to stop HS2

Lib Dem’s are claiming it is down to their opposition to the proposed relaxation of planning laws. The area is NIMBY country after all.

Of course you have to ask just how bad was the Tory candidate, to lose a majority of that size, and to the Lib Dem’s? Was it a complete wet Wally parachuted in to a supposedly safe seat?

Who or what is Sir Ed Davey?
If you think ( probably quite rightly) that Boris is incompetent and Starmer is a non entity how does Davey compare as Prime Minister material ?

I was just thinking recently that it was a pity the Lib Dems cancelled themselves at the last election with their attempt at overturning democracy as there could be an opening for something different. Maybe it's not too late for them.

The blue wall might be getting bigger
Labour on course to lose Batley and Spen by-election, poll suggests

Not sure how low Labour are prepared to go before they recognise that Starmer was a very bad choice, no one wants a bloody lawyer as the countries leader, the thing is are they prepared to face up to the fact that unless they crawl to Andy Burnham they are effectively unelectable as a government so I'm afraid Boris will hang on in there unfortunately!

I think you are correct it looks like the people want a leader with
zero moral values and a natural ability to bare face lie .
Perhaps they can relate to Bozo as one of their own even if
in reality he wouldn't be seen dead socialising with them.

The voter is always right. If labour or libs want a go at government then they need to provide a decent alternative, so far they havent

No the voter isn't always right as I have constantly stated in a democracy the vote of a thickie is equal to the vote of an intellectual and when the clever people are outnumbered then you are in trouble. Once upon a time the working class voted labour and the middle class voted Tory and you had a balance with no one party able to do too many stupid things unfortunately Blair messed it up by trying to appeal to the middle classes and now Boris is dumbing the Conservatives down to appeal to the former working classes.

But who decides who are the clever people ? Education doesnt equate to common sense and ability, quite often the opposite imvho.

I think it’s too late to change the one person one vote system. But the truth is we aren’t all equal. Common sense is OK when changing a lightbulb but planning for the future of a nation needs a bit more. Johnson has hit on populism as the way to go using things like anti immigrant policies which go down well with the white working class even though they don’t want the jobs they claim are being stolen from them. Johnson is a cynical individual looking for power. The amiable buffoon is just a front. He knows that picking a fight with Europe probably isn’t good for the country but it’s definitely good for him. I couldn’t vote Labour but Keir Starmer actually seems a decent sort of chap who’s unlikely to leave a horde of barsteward children in his wake. It seems you are more likely to get voted in by offering everyone a free Xbox than having sensible long term policies.

They made 2 mistakes. 1.A coalition with the Tories and 2. Electing Jo Swinson as leader who fought the election on reversing the referendum. They could have been a better force for sticking to their principles from years ago.
