Wil give give a warranty on the engine, please?
Has it the rear seat conversion?I’ve a mint 2018 HSE commercial available in November if anyone is looking….26k on the clock currently, sorry not sorry for the shameless plug that it’s for sale View attachment 972148
Later Disco's had no dip stick , but yes change oil regularly
Did he mention how the 21MY 300hp ingenium engines are going?
New D300 engine has a dipstick. LR have seen sense.Sure , but I think i still prefer a dip stick , but all new vehicles seem to getting too technical for little if any benefit to the buyer
Out of curiosity what did you prefer about the defender to the discovery?no it hasn’t

Have you ordered the 90 or 110?just really that it was more like my old 4 to drive and I loved that truck, don’t get me wrong the 5 is a lovely ride though.
The 2.6 was even worse, towed with one once, I swear you could see the gauge moving!saying all that the 2.25 petrol was a tough old engine, just slow and had a thirst that could drink a bar full of young farmers under the table
As soon as the JLR/Peugeot got involvedas a td5 owner thinking of getting something newer when did they start making bad engines and are the range rovers the same ?
My land agents 17plate Disco 5, 50k miles, stopped on the road, dash lights on, engine died.
Recovered to main dealer who quoted £17k to replace engine.
Land Rover agreed to suppply engine if he paid labour, then they said as he had the last service done at his local garage no help at all, full wack £17k plus more if it needed a turbo or is it turbos?
He had gone to his local garage in height of the Covid due to not getting anywhere getting it serviced at main dealers.
Anyway, with his garages help re oil used, and spec, etc put on a shitshow of pain to the main dealer and Landrover and they eventually backed down and paid for the replacement engine.
Its going again but along with other problems hes lost faith in it and traded it for a VW Tourag,
Totally agree, all manufacturers have issues at some time, the measure is how they handle these issues. As I said they are a shambles of a company and will try anything to get out of warranty claims where the fault is without any doubt due to the product being faulty. They only ever pay lip-service to 'customer care and support'. I mean, if they had instantly decided to replace that faulty engine the owner would have been quite happy, but due to the efforts to avoid responsibility he has lost faith, not so much in the vehicle but in the brand. Result? Yet another customer lost to another brand and probably several future sales lost.
They will never learn. It's been their company ethos ever since I can remember and I dealt with them since the early 1970's, so 50 years now and as I said before they have lost at least 14 new vehicle sales to me because of it and I'm trying my very best not to fall into being a victim in future.

Most drivers have zero interest in the mechanics. Even now if you go look at brochures on cars they will tell you everything but the information on the engine. Hp torque etc.The thing that surprised me was my agents ignorance of the engine issues.
As soon as he told me and I said something about the shells likely spun and goosed it, he was amazed that,
1 I had heard of the issue,
2 knew what it was,
3 and the fact that I told him there was a lot of folk with the same problem.
This guys sharp, but has no mechanical knowledge or interest and was extremely oblivious to Landrovers known issues.
If he's representative of their customers then its little wonder they can keep churning out poorly engineered products and selling them at big money.
They are the customers you want and will ultimately keep, lots of bites at the cherry while its still on the road, its called marketing. The thing that surprised me was my agents ignorance of the engine issues.
