crops look reasonable

but we have now had 3 weeks wet weather and lack sunsine what that does to yield in unknown

normally wet winters as we had this year hurt yield when dry in the summer
but being wet and dull reduces yield

imho this year calling yield is very hard
some wheat grain sites showing desease
spring barley too dry cold first then may too wet then very hot now plenty wet but wetter summer help yield

its not going to be a bad year but probably not exceptional

Not just the light land! Started burning up mid June onwards. Managed 7.5mm over the weekend. Biggest downpour since mid May.
Not looking forward to this week.

Had 6mm in June. Think average is 60mm. It killed it off.

It's not just lack of rain it's a combination of that and poor ground.

Just hope the rain doesn't start in August when its ready to harvest. Normally does.

Most of June fell as 0.2 or 0.4 and evaporated before any good. 10 days of 25 mph wind at the beginning of the month sucked up all the moisture.

too thick too walk into now being broadcast and no tramlines. mildew creeping up looks like it.

none gone down tho credit too Mascani. and weve had torrential rain for a week or especially yesterday

i didnt realise there had been so little rain over your way, is this localised or the whole of aberdeenshire?

Its feels like its been a good year for winter wheat but not absolutely flawless. Septoria will have taken some yield away here so I'm not expecting "best ever yields".

Winter Barley still looks brilliant and spring barley very good.

Looks looks some nice rainfall totals for the year so far its been 100, 70, 15, 0, 90, 22, 50 so far in July here so too fecking wet most of the time

Probably about average overall - 350mm in 7 months? Still too wet. I'd live with 400mm happily.

We are north East Yorkshire and have probably had similar weather pattern to Aberdeenshire. Wet May, heavy thunderstorm last Sunday, Monday and not much else. Ground dry and hard. We have some spring barley which looked brilliant, now suffering drought stress.

Yeah, a nice Dakota winter of frozen, low humidity, maybe a blanket of snow. None of this saturated soil getting even more rain on it rubbish

The soil here needs 15 to 20mm a week at this time of year , so far so good. But looks dry and hot for the next 10 days. Wheat, rye and spring cereals still have a long way to go.
Skyscraper looks ok (but has had full fungicide program)
Rye is about 1.6m tall. Grown for combining.

The total rain fall on my little bit of North Yorkshire is, drum roll please,
496mm, 30 av is 644mm
150 in jan
151 in may
and now almost 100 in July so far.

Some crops on a farm we work on. Winter wheat after osr and spring beans. Pleased with the beans as they had that dry spell soon after planting.
