Chop itwe have baled enough for ourseves and our regular custoumers still 170 acres to cut all loveily straw is it worth baling the rest? why work for nothing everybody was your friend last year dont appear to have many this year and we robbed nobody!
Amenuntill you have done it you wouldnt realise the feeling of coming out of a field with the combine having chopped the straw its fantastic! especialy if its going to rain.
Should sell it to someone that can get the job done rather than looking for the last penny thenI was weaning lambs next to big estate on Friday afternoon, they where combining a big field with 2 combines and half way across the choppers went on, they must have got the call that balers weren't going to get finished until rain came because they managed to bale up to where the choppers went on. Farm the other side sold all his at auction and they haven't even baled the winter barley yet! must be 1000 acres sat bloody wet behind a 40 foot header now!
They where having problems with there previous buyer, so put it through auction as a standing crop, guess who bought it bloody farms run by agents haven’t got a clue have they!Should sell it to someone that can get the job done rather than looking for the last penny then
Well there you goThey where having problems with there previous buyer, so put it through auction as a standing crop, guess who bought it bloody farms run by agents haven’t got a clue have they!
How many can always get the job done though, when the weather doesn’t play ball. Balers can’t be in two places at once .Should sell it to someone that can get the job done rather than looking for the last penny then
need more balers then, or sell it to someone that is not spreading themselves to thinHow many can always get the job done though, when the weather doesn’t play ball. Balers can’t be in two places at once .
......and there wouldn't be many balers sat idle just waiting for a phone call. I doubt the arable man thinks ' I've had good money for this straw I had better ring up the purchaser to see if he can manage to bale it if I go and cut it 'How many can always get the job done though, when the weather doesn’t play ball. Balers can’t be in two places at once .
perhaps if they want to sell straw and want it gone right away they should buy a baler......and there wouldn't be many balers sat idle just waiting for a phone call. I doubt the arable man thinks ' I've had good money for this straw I had better ring up the purchaser to see if he can manage to bale it if I go and cut it '
They will just crack on regardless !
Then complain that there's wet straw on the field !
I'm not blaming the arable man but there is another side to it
Apparently the purchaser said that he would come and bale less than 500 acres but by that time it had got wet.......and there wouldn't be many balers sat idle just waiting for a phone call. I doubt the arable man thinks ' I've had good money for this straw I had better ring up the purchaser to see if he can manage to bale it if I go and cut it '

There are a few doing that now around our way . They get it baled and stacked and it's pre -sold by the tonne off various sites around the farm. All the buyer has to do is rock up and get it loaded . No chasing round fields etc .perhaps if they want to sell straw and want it gone right away they should buy a baler
Yep everyone can get a breakdown but 1000 acres all cut and non baled, thats one unreliable baler.......and believe it or not balers break down !
Sounds sensible, forward thinkingThere are a few doing that now around our way . They get it baled and stacked and it's pre -sold by the tonne off various sites around the farm. All the buyer has to do is rock up and get it loaded . No chasing round fields etc .
Seems to work well
Or purchaser !Yep everyone can get a breakdown but 1000 acres all cut and non baled, thats one unreliable baler
Bet he was glad that they sold it to someone that could actually do the jobOr purchaser !
I've got to be fair I had 22 acres off a neighbour ,he rang me Thurs and said we could be cutting your wheat today but it's going to rain Fri night , if you can't get it baled we will go into different fields . Thankfully I was baling hay in the next field so as soon as the combine had done the headland I was in behind him .
