All the UK had to do is meet the requirements to sell goods into the EU. It really is quite simple. The rest of the world can do it.
So you’re answer is to let the EU flood our markets with no restrictions whatever whilst the EU does all it can to cripple our exports, why do we bother to feed our nation at all.
It’ not a case of meeting requirements, it’s a case of how much paperwork that is placed simply to deliberately hinder movement.
The UK puts restrictions on imports, perhaps the EU exporters are up to the task of meeting the requirements.

Oh dear!!! The EU are requiring the UK to meet the same criteria that every other third country has to, they are being fair and treating the UK the same as everyone else. Why do you think they should treat you preferentially?
I don't, I just think the mountain of EU products that are exported to the UK should also be subject to the very same requirements to create a level playing field!
They are. To export foodstuffs to the UK you have to meet BRC requirements and have had to even when the UK was in the EU, EU exporters have been meeting these requirements for several years. The UK had 4 years to prepare and did sweet FA in that time.
We do not need to import vast amounts of EU food produce which often undercuts home producers, we are perfectly capable of producing everything the EU exports to us, as the UK subsidy system changes UK farmers are going to be further disadvantaged in competing with EU imports so why make it easy for them!

The UK hasn’t got a sh!t show of producing enough food to keep the population fed.
A bit, but not much. No need really as we are an agricultural Nation with a small population, NZ has always had the ability to feed itself, the UK doesn’t have that ability, hence it has to import.
Seems to me without NZ cosying up to China you might have a hell of a lot more than you need, it's easy to be critical when you don't have imports competing with your market isn't it
Not been critical, it’s the reality of exporting, you have to meet the requirements of the markets to export to them, it really is quite simple.
