An old irrigator I bought a few years ago, but never used when I found the price of the pipe needed for it, finding a new life as a 50mm water pipe spinning jenny! Should make the job somewhat easier.

On the issue of BB semen on crossbreed, we used Gaberal last year and calved with very few difficulties. Understand he doesn't throw the shapiest of calves but they were a god compromise and worth more than anything else. All on 2nd calves.

Probably a bit of work with a calculator to see if going 5 days or so over has more negative impact than the calf price. Don't think so but we'll see how calving interval looks.

photos taken at 2 or 3 days old.

Indeed! We're earlier this year anyway so will be difficult to say. But based on some simple maths, I think the difference in calf price is more than the lost 5 days anyway (Am I allowed to say that as a spring calver?!). It's just the cumulative 5 days over say 5 years and how many cows lost from block which could be the issue.

it has to be, doesn't it ? You certainly aren't going to get it any quicker, unless you get some bags, and manhandle in there, which isn't recommended.
Farm sale tomorrow, 3 fullwood merlin mk 2. 2018 robots included, who is going to guess the price, locally decided, 2 prices, first, if fullwood buy them back in, or, a farmers price, will be interesting to see the result.

Did the robots sell in the sale?

I watched some online at lunch time but missed to robots.

I watched it as well as I knew someone who was there to buy.
£27.5k each + whatever commission was.
Same buyer bought all 3.
Bulk of a 3 bot system for £100k on farm.

Auto scrappers didnt make much and were only 12 months old. Dairy equipment at auction never seems to do well.

That said, the one thing I was after made strong money.
