You can’t get simpler than an Excel spreadsheet it’s got all the functionality to make it so easy to use.

Just construct one with all the headings you use, set the formulas and once you’ve done one you can just copy into following years/months or whatever you want to do.

How do you go about deciding a budget? Please don't just say based on previous years as that's not much help to me 😂
I mean in terms of fuel usage as an example? Do you do it on a per cow basis? Or per acre basis? And how do you go about deciding how much fuel you'll end up using? Because there will obviously be a big difference if you don't do any work other than feeding and scraping compared to if you do all your own forage and cultivations
Same with things like vets bill's etc

Some things are simple eg: semen, I know I'll order 1.5 straws of sexed and 0.5 straws of beef per cow in march and pay for it in april at approximately £50/cow total
And I know bank repayments are going to be x every month
It's the variables I find hard to budget for

I have trouble with affordability with regards to Figured.
Its not cheap but it is always up to date.
Haven't actually used it for 6 weeks but know it's there when needed. It can also report historical numbers and comparisons far better than Xero.
The scenario tool is also quite handy for checking out longer term bigger projects.

What I like is if the bank manager requested a budget he would have the next 3 years upto date after about 90 seconds work.

I don't use a consultant for anything and always like to be on top of my numbers and figured has corrected a weakness that developed after moving from farmplan to Xero.

Xero and figured combined are probably cheaper than farmplan and together far better.

Bad time of year as all crop expenses are paid and no crop sold yet this is where milking cows helps as decent milk cheque coming in helps you out then comes November and all wheat is sold.
but this week nasty nick paid the sfp so all worries now gone 🤣
Just this. 2 million liters worth of forage and grain in stock. Needs converting now
