Openreach over reaching their authority

Contractors for Openreach have broken into a farmyard away from home and maliciously put a trench in and buried some service completely without authorisation or permission. It does not followed the route that we agreed 2 years ago for a new fibre optic supply and is very likely to get ploughed up when the field is worked this year.

By Monday morning I'm likely to be fully wound up and ready to give Openreach a proper shouting at. Field is heavy clay and due for subsoiling!

Don't stress about it - Have a coffee and relax - Really not worth getting wound up about, particularly if you have details of an agreed route. - Just carry on as though you know nothing about it ( Make sure the subsoiling is done extra deep though

)

Calmness would be an advantage,a land agent type with you when meeting the openreach agent to discuss compo

Chillax - As B R Jones says let a land agent deal with it, OpenReach are obliged to pay their fees - Just get on and farm the land as you would have done and wait for the cheque to arrive - Might take a year or two.

Subsoil 10 bells out of it and make sure your there wen they send a man in a van to fix it, suggest that he does sex and leave and refuse to let anyone else touch it until the man with the cheque book puts an appearance in!

Please don't get mad - believe me it doesn't help. Get even instead.

" Oh look, someone has left me a length of nice brand new blue rope - I'll just pull it and coil it up - I'm sure I can find a use for it later."

Your agent - yes, Openreach must pay his fees - needs to put in a claim for trespass [say £500 to keep the buggers on their toes] and loss to a valuable crop of grass. Cost of cultivations and re-seeding. Compensation for an underground junction box.

And if Stephensons in York market are your agents, Richard Tasker is an absolutr s**t to utility companies.

Pulling the rope and making a hang man frame may be seen as a little confrontational but just pulling the rope and selling it to some of these people to secure their loads will be fine.

Stuff land agents, all that does is give them a fat pay cheque while you end up with the square root of b*gger all. Far more satisfying to rip the whole lot out and dump it at the nearest BT depot/offices.

I'd prefer to cut a good length off each end of the rope and then drop it in the duct out of sight, will cause a blockage then as well
